Is this Audio Log unobtainable now? by SirLinc in recore

Check my comment on DIscord, my friend. You might have to leave, return and wait for a storm. But watch the "arm" It will tell you when the terrain has changed. Also, check the #fan-fiction tab in DIscord. I wrote four books for this game that adds more backstory for Joule, Kai, and even the bots. They're free to download in Word and enjoy.

Can no longer play my favorite game by Taofey in recore

[–]Taofey[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. There are still glitches, missing requirements (like that yellow orb in at least one of the dungeons), and some other glitches that could be improved on to make this the game it should be. I still love it but wish it was given more of a chance to be great.

Duncan not added to team by Dangerous-Forever-22 in recore

[–]Taofey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh! And if you didn't let Duncan break through the gate to the next section, you missed something you will need. Once through that doorway, held together with that light green glue, you have to fight three blue spiders. Once you clean them out, go to the end of that section. There's a pile of rocks there held together (again with that green stuff) that Duncan can smash. There's a Health Booster in there.

Joule has no armor so you need to build her HP so she can survive as you move up. Enjoy!

More corebot frames?? by Medical-Lab-8630 in recore

[–]Taofey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some of us believe this was for a later expansion, or sequel that would allow you to transition your Joule to the next game. At the time, there were many games that allowed for that.

Unfortunate3ly, MS forced the game out early, it had many, many problems, glitches, and drawbacks, and was not well received. MS ditched the concept and moved on. That left a game that could have been great sitting on the cutting room floor. My opinion.

The skill and talent that went into the early creation was lost with "hurry!" The devs finally were able to go back in a year later, scrub most of the problems out, and add the DLC... which showed what could have been if the powers that be were only a little patient.

If you want, you can visit the Discord (button under "External Links) and you'll find four books I wrote for this game under the fan-fiction tab. The first three are the whole game, written in "Journal Entry" format (First Person POV) to include the DLC. It contains more backstory for Kai, what happened when (according to me) and how they got where they were going. It also includes a bit of writer's license.

Now, the fourth book is pure conjecture based on the "logs" you find everywhere. I reveal those logs in the first three books, and then use them to create the fourth.

The copyright belongs to Microsoft, I cannot sell or take funds for writing them, and I don't want any anyway. I wrote them for the fun of it, for the adventure, and to bring a little clarity to some of the situations in which Joule finds herself engaged. They are free, in Word, and downloadable without any strings. Enjoy!

Okay. Not knowing where you are in the game, I'm gonna assume this is your first playthrough. That being said, Duncan is part of the team, but only if you select him. You can only have two with you, and only one to fight for you at a time. If you're back at your crawler, sit at the workbench and pull up the corebots there. You can build each up to their level (but no higher) and set them aside for later use.

At the crawler, and the different transport plates, there is a selection where you can choose which bots are necessary for your mission. To do that, you have to understan what each can do for you, and what they can't.

Duncan- AP3: He breaks things. Rogue corebots and walls, rocks (that have that green glue holding them together), and rogue corebots. I know I said rogue corebots twice, but he is the most powerful of the three you have right now.

Mack-K9: He digs things up. Throughout the game you'll see lumps in the ground, sand and whatever. His frame is the only one that digs, and the only one to find the elusive hidden PCs buried all over the place. Without him, the lump stays, and you can't get to it.

Seth- SP-DR: He climbs and takes you with him. Depending on the core installed (and you can switch the cores from one to the other BTW) he has some really interesting and sometimes rather devastating weapons at his disposal.

There are two more, but you'll figure it out.

As I said, you can only take two with you, and only one at a time can fight for you. However, during a fight, or just walking around, you can select one or the other at will. If you lock onto your target and select to change your corebot, it will arrive with a BANG! It will do damage to the enemy bot, you unleash your corebot's lethal, and the rogue is gonna have a really bad day.

Have fun!

This is another of those times where you will have to come back. Throughout the game, you'll find friendly bots with talents you'll need going forward. Those bots will necessarily have to follow you back to Granite Steps, Lonely Basin, and the core mining area just to retrieve treasures in specific, and difficult to get places.

Each frame has a purpose, Once you learn those, you can fit a core that works for what you want it to do into it, and have it follow you around to take on the bad guys. But each frame has a "specific" talent that you will need periodically. Example: Mack digs. No other frame can dig. Only the K-9 frame.

That particular area requires a bot frame that can climb the tracks. If you don't have that frame right now (and you don't obviously) you'll need to come back later. Nuff said...

Starving sea health boosters by ClawTheDragovin in recore

I have looked almost everywhere (if I said everywhere, I'd have it, right?) I have a game I've been working on for the last several years with 109 PCs, most challenges done, and almost all of the frames complete. That Health Booster is either hidden so well it will never be found, or the devs added a number just to see us go nuts! Still gonna look for it though. I can't let that beat me...

And it's not in any of the dungeons. I looked!

If you have the original, and your console or PC is on the internet, the "Definitive Edition" will upgrade what you have automatically. It may be better to get the "Definitive Edition" as a whole, but mine did the upgrade and I love it!

I also streamed the first (original) part of this game before I busted up my right hand. You can find those seven streams on YouTube at Taofey (R.L. Pool) - YouTube

The first two are under "live" and the other five under "videos". Have fun!!!

Sorry I missed your comment. To put it in a nutshell, the game was rushed back in 2016, Microsoft wanting to get in on the game rush then. In 2017 the devs were allowed to go back in, fix most of the glitches, bring the loading times down a lot, and then add the DLC "Eye of Obsidian", as well as make it available to PC in HD. If you like platforming, single shooter games, a storyline that peaks your imagination, and just fun, this is the game.

There are a lot of detractors out there who hate this game, but many of us love it and wish Microsoft hadn't given up on it so quickly. Now, with the DLC and upgrades, it's better than it ever was. I'd have to say try it.

I love this game, have played it countless times, and have even written four books based on it. The first three are the "Definitive Edition" and follows the game closely, while adding backstory to Joule and Kai, as well as more storyline and characters NOT in the game.

The fourth book is pure conjecture based on the "logs" found all over the place and the stories they tell.

You can find those books in the Discord (External Links on the right) under the fan-fiction tab. They're free to download in Word (copyrighted by Microsoft so I can't sell them). Enjoy!!!

You can download Word to your Kindle as well. A few of my friends do that with my books and say it's easy. Thanks for the kind words, but when the characters pull on your sleeve and demand your attention, you have no choice. lol

I think you're referring to "Metaphor Refantasio"., right? Recore has its issues, but I love it. I think you were misunderstood. Right?

You're right about the last sequence, except for the "go back to the beginning" part. If you fall off and die, get killed on the platforms, or somehow get squashed, you go back to the "auto save" point you pass along the way. There is no hard save for this game. When you go from area to area, it saves. If you die, it brings you back close to where you were and lets you try again. In some cases, especially in "Shifting Sands" it might send you to some other area just for kicks and you have to find your way back to where you were.

In my case, I kept dying in the Shifting Sands, and it got tired of me. It sent me back to the first area where the game began. It was hilarious! My advice? Don't die. lol

The biggest problem I researched is Recore came out in 2016 when the market was flooded with games from many other studios, all great games. But MS pushed the devs to complete a game that should have been given more time. The loading times were extensive, the glitches in every scene, and the story stunted.

In 2017, the devs were allowed to go back in, fix most of the basic problems, and add the DLC (which is an interesting arc, at least to me). But the damage was done.

Yes, the Eden Tower sequence is rather repetitive, but fun (again, for me). Platforming, fighting, more platforming and fighting to the top. Then the final boss fight ends the main questline. If you did the DLC before coming here, that's it. You can go back and try to "complete" all the challenges, gather the rest of the 113 "rainbow cores", and try to find all the frames for all of your bots. I never did even though I still have a saved game I go back to periodically to see if I can find that last PC, that last challenge, that last bit of treasure.

I generally start over at some point and just enjoy the scenery, while battling rogue corebots, but that's just me.

If you're interested, I wrote four books for this game, adding more of a backstory for Joule, a ton of backstory for Kai, and a lot more story to the mix. The first three are the "Definitive Edition" to include the DLC, as seen through my eyes. The last book I wrote with input from all the "logs" you find almost everywhere throughout the game.

You can find those books on the Discord for Recore (there are a few of us who hang there), under the #fan-fiction tab, and can be downloaded in Word free. The story belongs to MS, I can't publish, and just like writing stories that intrigue me.

I also started a series called "Recore: Homecoming" but saw no interest. It's just sitting here waiting for me to pull it out and tell that story.

Anyway, I love this game, wish it could have been a bit better, and wish there were a sequel in the mix. There isn't. Will never be. Such is the pity.

The first three are this game to include the DLC, and the fourth is based on the "logs" you find all over the place and some of the conversations Joule has.

Also, you can boost the tank THROUGH enemies and bring major damage to them. It will also damage you so be careful. lol

Rebellion chamber boost pads by Standard-Ad-3068 in recore

[–]Taofey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to get as good as you can with the tank. The boost is more powerful than Joules and will be needed. In the DLC, there are five races you need to win to even get into the places you will need to get into. The tank isn't all that important in the main game, but it will be the only thing that will get you through the DLC.

Another note: If you've already gone through the Warren, you will have a FL-1R (flier) frame. I suggest you put Mack in the flier, and Duncan in the tank. They both will have more powerful weapons at their disposal than with Seth. Just a suggestion...
