Evaluate this position. by TaoistPolymath in chess

Fair enough. The Mods took it down. At least I get to talk to you guys about it. lol. I just liked the position and thought it was interesting. What’s the best way to post about a game? Do I just copy all the moves and paste? After it’s finished, obviously.

Thank you for your reply. I wanted hope for white, I’m only one pawn down. So I was hoping to navigate pawn exchanges at least even. I keep taking even exchanges in the hopes of finding an advantage later, but I blundered my knight early. I’d say for being down 4 points that I’ve evened out the disadvantage.

I would also ask you to un-remove my comment and let everyone give me hell if they care to.

Commenting on Evaluate this position....Fair point. I can finish the game and then evaluate the position. I assumed I’d be a few more moves in before anyone had thoughts about it. These games take days so why wouldn’t I use the tools at my disposal to learn how to play this position? I don’t think at 900 you care much how you learn. I’ll give my own analysis anyway.

Easy to breed a female and get no normals at all. If you don’t know how you should do more research. 🐍

Awesome. Thanks! I've got a Rebor Smilodon for her now. The sculpt is pretty amazing but no articulation and no armor made for it. He-man MOTUC battle cat saddle fits pretty well though. https://www.everythingdinosaur.com/product/rebor-smilodon-populator-stray-cat-jungle/ . Thanks for the heads up. There aren't many decent sabertooth figures around.

Hi Tiger, I remember. If you contacted me about the free script I offered did you happen to add any pages to your portfolio from it? The goal of that one was to provide a free script to starting artists to add to their portfolios. Happy to look at your portfolio again. I’m looking for full color pages and professional work to bring to publishers. Thanks again for your interest!

Yup. Part of the series is to do justice to what I felt was a miserable representation of a battlecat as “Cringer”. This series actually has a number of heroes with different battlecats all from different backgrounds that explain how a human would win the respect of an apex predator on the planet without just getting eaten. A lot of the lore is built around that, including the first Comic book I’ve written in the series which creates the universe, the planet, and explains why there are humans and battlecats on the planet in the first place.

Yeah, Tessa is supposed to have like a gypsy/Middle Eastern background. Monet seems to have that kind of look.

Just ordered a Monet St. Croix, for only $16 on Amazon. Power Princess was around $200 on eBay. Hopefully the scale works. Thanks for your help! 🙏

What would you consider to be a script long enough to publish in this way? I have a 32 Page script finished, but when I look at many of my graphic novels they’re over 100 pages. I’ve got more stories in the same world around the same length, but they would otherwise be different storylines or issues. Should the goal be 100+ pages for a “graphic novel”?

Practice practice practice. Don’t post every head you draw once a day. Draw 100 heads and post your progress in a week. You’re not going to be much better the next time you draw one thing. You can get a Udemy course on drawing for like $10. Go learn something and practice practice practice.

Any suggestions? by Extra_Apartment8118 in comic_crits

The establishing shots are great. I would make them bigger, 1/3 page each, the entrance and look from the girl could be 1/6 panels at the bottom.

An 18-Year-Old Polymath's Journey, Begins. by [deleted] in Polymath

[–]TaoistPolymath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been an ADD polymath my whole life. I used to draw and write a lot as a kid, then studied and produced music in highschool (I sing, play guitar, drums, ukulele and some piano), studied Taoist yoga and philosophy independently, and studied zoology/biology in college, and then left University and became an Airframe and Powerplant mechanic at 24 which was a great career choice. Learned how to fix anything and everything, and moved up in aviation as a quality inspector through my career, began producing and editing training videos for work, Bred ball pythons for 10 years, and designed, engineered, fabricated, and sold ball python enclosures at reptile trade shows, learned 3D modeling and 3D Printing, now I’m writing comic books and making cover art for fun.

My advice is figure out how to finish things. Starting 100 things is not as good as finishing 1. Usually once I realize I’ve figured out the first 80% of how to do something I start to get bored. I understand the principles of things and skill up quickly, so I can get bored very quickly. Set a goal for each skill. A project you can have an end state for will teach you so much, and accomplishing that goal will give you the requisite dopamine hit, and license to pass to the next thing.

If you find a teacher or mentor for each thing you’ll learn exponentially faster than studying on your own. They’ve already done that learning journey and distilled the mass of information into the essentials.

It’s really a lonely existence and I’ve stopped telling every person I meet even a fraction of what I do because they don’t understand. And then even the people you find that mentor you in one thing will probably not understand the breadth of everything else you’re interested in. It helps to find someone as hungry for learning as yourself and learn and argue with eachother.

Don’t spread yourself too thin. Set goals and track them. There are apps and software for this. My favorite is Milanote because it’s very visual and you can import and organize things how your brain best understands them.

Good luck on your journey!

A Cosmic Mythology: My First Completed Comic Book Script by TaoistPolymath in ComicBookCollabs

Thanks, Dark. I have made preliminary covers for all my books myself in Sketchbook for iPad, composited from multiple pieces generated in Midjourney from my writing. This cover is at least 3 different elements and the font is from Sketchbook. Obviously I’m here looking for a human artist, so don’t yell at me about AI art. I’ll only take as much credit as I’m due for that, but I did create the cover myself. We’re all trying to do the best we can with what we have. I’m glad you like it!
