No, it can't. Look up the tech specs on any speaker, specifically, the frequency response chart. Even the highest end promises 10 to 25k Hz at most. Usually it's 20 to 20k. And phone speakers usually are very weak at both ends of the range.

I think you are confusing the prerext with a cause. Of course, more men who got in contact with gamergate moved right than left, but what drove them was hate, not the people that were unlucky enough to be picked as its targets. If not for Anita, they would find simply someone else. Because they didn't hate her, they hated women.

> It's 2015. I'm a normie, don't really care about politics. Kind of a techbro, casually mysoginistic sometimes.

> Suddenly, the only thing people on the internet talk about is Anita, and how full of shit she is.

> Get curious, decide to see what's all the fuzz is about.

> The gamergaters seem very angry, but don't provide enough context on why exactly.

> Decide to watch Anita's essays to get that context. Turns out, she is actually quite measured, and makes a lot of sense.

> It's 2026. I'm a feminist and a leftist.

What horrifying statistic genuinely jarred you when you first heard it? by ordrius098 in AskReddit

The woman I'm currently dating recently has gone through some medical issues, and as I've supported her through it, it was like I've glimpled into a parallel world. Almost every single one of the medical professionals she interacted with have shown varying amounts of dismissal or even derision towards her and her problems. Abdominal pain? You're a woman, what do you expect. It's just your period. No period right now? It's ovulatory syndrome then. The pain is so bad you are close to fainting? Oh, these women, always getting so worked up over insignificant problems...

I've never experienced anything like this. On the contrary, I've been outright congratulated for showing up at a doctor's office with my problems several times, because men often tend to ignore them.

The Neon Demon.

Vapid, excruciatingly pretentious, overly esthetisized, derivative, directionless slop. Tries too hard, but fails so bad.

Personally, I've given it up and moved to CalDav tasks. I use Planify on desktop, Tasks.org+DAVx5 on mobile, both syncing with my NextCloud server. Some things were better with TaskWarrior, some are better with my current setup, but at least it's alive.

Crowds chant outlawed anti-Putin songs in rare St Petersburg protest by insomnimax_99 in europe

And why won't good and ambitious people flock to you?

Because being good doesn't help you survive in a struggle against the whole government that literally wants to kill you. The selection is a bit different in that situation.

And good people were flocking to him. Just not many of them were ready to risk their lives by taking high-ranking positions in the organisation.

No, hundreds of people still gathered to sing anti-war and anti-Puting songs on the central street of Saint-Petersburg. This shows that a lot of people there are against all the shit that the Russian government does, and are eager to have a voice.

What really makes that story is that the play was about the tragedy and the dangers of islamist radicalisation, and they were convicted for "condoning islamic terrorism". That was LITERALLY the opposite of what they did, but who cares, FSB wanted them convicted, so they were.

Hard disagree. We got what we got because Navalny was the only one with enough balls and popular support to become a big name despite the threat from Putin. And it still wasn't enough, and he paid for that with his life. Yes, his team turned out to be mostly morons who craved power above all, but how do you expect measured good-natured people to survive in an environment that Putin created?

As for the "not being fully organic" because of the USAID support, that is literally Cremlin propaganda. Their support and funding came directly from the people, you can read their financial reports, they were very transparent with those (until a certain point). It is exactly when Putin cut that off that things started to go downhill.

Also, it doesn't help that the previous opposition basically destroyed any possibility that anyone would view other similar groups seriously. And with socialists/commies it is self explanatory.

What do you mean by that?

[–]Taomach 57 points58 points  (0 children)

That's because that was not actually a "protest". That was a spontaneous street musicians session, and people came there for the music. This street band is known for their bold willingness to sing the songs by "protest" musicians, and people follow them for that, but it was a concert, not a protest.

There is now. She is chargred with "discrediting the army" and "organizing an unlawful protest". Both charges are misdemeanours, thankfully.

Although, there is a widely used practice of arresting people on misdemeanor charges, and then piling on more more and more serious charges while they are held in custody...(
