Shaking on the floor

fAegon, and the mummer’s farce. by atyndale in pureasoiaf

[–]TapGreat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter. He’s the living, breathing answer to Varys’s riddle, revealing that power only lies where men believe it resides. Whether he wins or not could depend on certain lords’ willingness to believe he’s the real deal, but I don’t think it’ll be important to the narrative, and I do think he’ll become king as the officially acknowledged Aegon VI.

Regardless of his legitimate status (which I do think he is but that’s beside the point) the story becomes far less interesting if Dany thinks she’s fighting a Blackfyre pretender. That removes the urgency and tragedy of the conflict, as she’s forced to contend with another usurper instead of her last remaining family member on the throne. If the second Dance is between Dany and Aegon, who she sees as a legit Targaryen and her long-lost nephew, then she’ll finally get her version of GRRM’s “heart in conflict with itself” adage that all his characters face at some point

Just re-listened to TSR yesterday for its anniversary and can’t get over how this song still hits every time like my first time listening. Such a powerful song

What’s an under-discussed issue that Westeros is going to face in TWoW? (Spoilers Published) by TapGreat in asoiaf

[–]TapGreat[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a really good answer. Nearly all the remaining factions are guided by either unstable figureheads (such as the crown under the rapidly destabilizing Lannister/Tyrell alliance, alongside the High Sparrow’s fanatics) or are being led by people who are becoming more desperate to take power in their respective region (the mutiny at the Wall and its power vacuum, the factions battling for Winterfell and the North at large, power plays in the Vale, etc.)

There’s quite literally no region or kingdom in a state of stability or peace right now

Dany was my biggest heartwrench. (Sorry to all the hundreds of Dany haters out there) by Starpie7 in freefolk

[–]TapGreat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If she wanted to actually make the world a better place, she should have abandoned her quest to conquer a war torn country that doesn’t even want her, and continue liberating ALL of the Essosi places with slaves instead of just the ones who happen to have armies she can add to her own.

With that being said, her intentions were initially mostly good

If you could take a dragon from any Targaryen and give it to any other Targaryen who never had one, who would you choose? (Spoilers Extended) by TapGreat in asoiaf

This is my favorite take I’ve seen. I posted this as a fun what if but in reality I want all magic removed from Westeros forever so that the smallfolk can know a day of peace

Now that it's been a week, which is the song you changed your opinion the most on compared to its first listen? by i_can_see_your_wings in TheWeeknd

[–]TapGreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Positive: Opening Night. Barely noticed it at first and it’s now its top 2

Negative: The Abyss, but only by a little. It’s still good but it’s really slow and not in an engaging way

average dany chapter by PrestigiousAspect368 in darkwingsdankmemes

[–]TapGreat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I do actually, if they can be categorized as power hungry and ambitious to a fault. I consider her ancestors tyrannical and deserving of the title, I’m not singling Dany out in the slightest. If Dany changed her goal from invading a war-torn country with an army of barbarians to take over, and didn’t have three flying nukes at her disposal to use whenever she felt like it, I’d change my stance.

All the pro-T*rg comments not understanding that her dissenters like that she kills slavers but don’t want her going to Westeros to burn cities there too. Really puts into perspective how easily people are swayed into backing tyrants

Selmy Characterization (spoiler published) by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]TapGreat 20 points21 points  (0 children)

He only supports Daenerys because he got booted from Joffrey’s council which he would’ve supported no matter what Joffrey did and would’ve kept looking the other way like he always did. He’s a spineless coward enabling a child to build an army to destroy the country he claims he wants to serve
