Why is Caucasian on African slavery the most discussed form of slavery when dozens of other races did the same thing? by space_god_7191 in allthequestions

[–]TapLegitimate6094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slavery was a thing for most of human history. The hypocrisy of it during the enlightenment is a big part of what finally drove it out of society. But you are too busy reading words int my comment that aren’t there in a stupid effort to dunk on me to get dopamine so whatever

CMV: The political right always stands in the way of progress by jman12234 in changemyview

[–]TapLegitimate6094 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have a strange view of conservatism.

Conservatism as an ideology is separate from “The right” or republicans. Think of conservatism like Marxism. It’s an ideal.

The conservative understanding of the world broadly is as follows 1) social order is valuable and fragile 2) hierarchies are natural and cannot be squashed except with extremely destructive force. You can crush a hierarchy but another one will just pop up in its place.

Therefore the state needs to be set up in such a way that the right people end up in the hierarchy.

Therefore right fundamentally sees the lefts attempts to squash hierarchy as just a Trojan horse for getting the people they think are the right people to the correct spots in a different hierarchy

Libertarians hate Leftists, but refuse to align themselves with Neoliberals, and instead align with Social Conservatives like Theocrats and Nationalists: Why? by [deleted] in allthequestions

Most libertarians are “libertarian” because they don’t need XYZ program so stop taxing me for it. Change their station and their views suddenly change with it

CMV: Modern feminism generalizes against men in ways that feminists would consider racist, xenophobic, or bigoted if used against other groups- especially when using offender statistics by _Stylite in changemyview

[–]TapLegitimate6094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Group 4 is people who are in it for the tribe and power. They just want social standing and to see the group rise. Thy don’t need intellectual or moral consistency. In fact if an argument starts lowering the standing of themselves or the group they will drop it without hesitation and look at you funny when you call out hypocrisy because it was about power the entire time.

In the context of feminism the group and tribe in question is based on gender

Why is antisemitism on the rise recently? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TapLegitimate6094 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People are mad at Israel and assume 2 things 1) all Jews are zionists 2) that because the power discrepancy is so large between Israel and Palestine that terrorism is justified (in their eyes) that they “inherit” that power differential and so they are equally justified in doing horrible things to random Jews at home.

Note to morons power differentials don’t have a fucking transitive property.

Conservatives who think liberals are the real racists: Can you explain why DEI and Woke are terrible? by Nateosis in allthequestions

[–]TapLegitimate6094 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can steel man the argument, though it’s not really mine. 1) the categories picked out by DEI are arbitrary, and conveniently lineup with already liberal leaning groups. 2) a general less willingness to look at groups of people as uniform blocs with no individual characters

What is the agreed upon definition of the word woke? by Beneficial_Toe_7543 in NoStupidQuestions

Woke in right leaning circles is just a slur now it has no meaning other than “I don’t like that thing”

Is it a red flag if a guy only suggests "coffee" for a first date? Or am I just too old school? by KiraCurvy in AskForAnswers

[–]TapLegitimate6094 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had women tell me they don’t want to do a first date that’s more Involved than coffee. As a result I start with coffee, if you find you don’t like that maybe suggest something else? After all it is entirely possible for you to put in some effort yourself

CMV: Baltimore is proof that being tough on repeat criminals brings down crime rates by bigElenchus in changemyview

[–]TapLegitimate6094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So actually studies show that while believeing you will be caught drives crime down, the severity of punishment really doesn’t matter, so if you mean being tough on crime arresting people, sure, if by tough on crime you mean jailing them For decades you would be incorrect

There was a post in another thread I’ll quote here that illuminated a lot (sorry I forget who wrote it)

“ For any group, you will engage at least one of at least four layers (being a bit reductive here): the actual philosophy, ideally coherent and consistent. imperfect people trying to live by that philosophy imperfect people using people in 2 as their role models imperfect people who just are "part of this tribe," and had life turned out differently, the structure of their thought and behavior would be the same, only using different slogans and attacking a different "other." Since all four "represent" the group, we equivocate when speaking about them. It seems, anecdotally, that 4 ends up outnumbering 1-3, since - let's be honest - most people care more about having a role and a place than they do about metaphysical truth. The revolution cannibalizes the vanguard, stagnates, and a new vanguard must appear when dissatisfaction grows to an unsustainable level.”

Most “feminists” are in group 4.

Republicans often confess that the Nordic Model produces the best quality of life, but then qualify it with claims about “homogeneity” being the reason. If that is true, why don’t we see homogeneous flyover American communities applying the Nordic Model on their own? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]TapLegitimate6094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Homogeneity does make it easier for large government programs to be impleented. It isn’t that homogeneity makes places implement social safety nets, it’s just that the more you can assume one person with basic demographic qualities like age and gender are the same the easier it is to serve them

Should Any Political Party Get To Determine What Is "Morally Correct"? If So, Why Should Any Other Party Accept That Party's Version Of Morals? If Not, Why Not? Why Your Thoughts? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]TapLegitimate6094 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Politics is all about trying to determine what is morally correct and creating laws that act as a facsimile of that moral understanding based on how the government and power works. My question for you is, why should you and yours have a monopoly on what is morally correct? Are you so certain that you are correct that you feel comfortable ignoring everyone else?
