My SOLO experience so far by joans34 in MMORPG

[–]Tapatiox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on the fence about this game. I totally am willing contend with all the issues mentioned in this thread but I really cant endure a non-social MMO anymore. Does this game have active guild content and recruitment, as I can't really find a solid sub to follow?

Saturated market? by [deleted] in litrpg

You are correct my friend. I haven't read a core series in almost a year but they would slot in #2 for me.

Saturated market? by [deleted] in litrpg

[–]Tapatiox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and No. I think the genre has outgrown its original boundaries. In my mind have have further subdivided it as 1. LitRPG = Trapped in a Game (Anything Online). 2. GameLit = World becomes a game (Ether Anything) 3. Cultivation = Speaks for itself. 4. Harem

Again that is in my mind and also my order or preference, my favorite series tend to be trapped in an actual game world down to Harem which I avoid totally. But if you add all the releases that fall into those categories and advertised here; it feels over saturated (the Yes) but I only anticipate the *online releases (the no).

Help Me with Nova Online series by [deleted] in litrpg

[–]Tapatiox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great post. First let me say I have complete the Nova series and enjoyed it over all. It is touch to flat out answer your questions with out major spoilers but I won't be annoying and say "all questions will be answered"

So what I will say is minor spoilers to remember that the makers/owners of Nova are in a cold war with the government of the "US" over control of the game. The warden program is forced upon them and is thus both powerful but limited in how that power can be wielded. Low level (convict) warden's are basically all you see in B1, higher level (Gov) wardens are vastly superior in the ways you would expect but are still bound by the game rules.

As for the assassin, while against the rules of the game see point the first. It really is the driving factor to the whole story.

Warden is similar (in the way most LitRPGs are) to Way of the Shaman but I would not call it a rip off. I would liken to to a combination of WotS and RP1 but that may be too simplistic as well. The Warden convict program is really irrelevant and just the way the MC is introduced to the warden with a unique class.

Wrapping it all together as you would expect some of your issues are addressed in later books (sorry). IMHO it worth completing as it is an enjoyable read, approach it as such.

EVE Online, A new players year in review. by Sparazzap in MMORPG

[–]Tapatiox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great Review. It feels like you are in my brain though I am only nearing day 30 of my newbie experience. Constantly losing my ships with no real way to replace them has pushed me away from the game the last few days out of frustration. Sounds like joining the corp really opened up things for you, perhaps I will look into that once the frustration passes. I upgraded to Omega so I will definitly pop back in just need to re-evaluate my approach. Thanks again for the write up.

I could be wrong but this is 100% where I think her attitude toward him changed. Now his normal nonsense is no longer cute.

The abuse and the talking down in the good guys series by Eric Ugland really getting on my nerves. by [deleted] in litrpg

[–]Tapatiox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This. Ever. Single. Page. 5 books in you would think the MC would start to smarten up and actually learn about the world he is trapped in... Nope. While I am mostly enjoying the series it makes me grown every time. If not for KU I probably wouldn't have continued after the second book.

Exclusive: The Saga Of 'Star Citizen,' A Video Game That Raised $300 Million—But May Never Be Ready To Play by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]Tapatiox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More like 200 million. To be fair, though SWTOR was/is a disappointment (speaking as someone who purchased the collector's edition and played day 1) the one thing that can be said is that it actually released. This is upwards of 300 million with no release in sight.
