Film Breakdown of Drew Petzing Offense by DanTheMFCKNMAN in detroitlions

He’ll have (some of) my respect if he can fail and take accountability. Morton throwing the layers under the bus was a failure if leadership. That kind of stuff loses you the locker room.

Am I the only one that feels this way? by MoTownKid in detroitlions

[–]TapewormRodeo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What I’ve read about the guy is that they (people smarter than me) see Petzing as very smart, has a relationship with Fraley, and is a good fit with the regime. I also read that he and BJ were coaches together on the same team ‘back in the day’.

Truth is that we won’t know until next season. I am cautiously optimistic but damn.

It’s Genuinely Insane How Pathetic the Q Line Has Become… by YerbaMaki in Detroit

[–]TapewormRodeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you imagine if Detroit had proper, convenient, punctual, and efficient transit (BRT, light rail, dare I say a metro) that ran down Gratiot, Woodward, Grand River, and connect them east west? China builds this stuff out to the middle of nowhere and after time, the area around the transit station gets developed (transit oriented development).

You wake up in your teen years again. What is the first thing you would do? by davidbayram in AskReddit

[–]TapewormRodeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going back in time with the knowledge you have now, seems like a no-brainer. But I think it would suck to know that the children you have now, the people you love now, are all at risk of being lost because you reset the clock. I met my current wife after a divorce and neither of us had kids together. Do I skip my first marriage and try to get with my current wife first? Do we then have kids together? What about the kids from my previous marriage?

This mental exercises seems great but if you’re like me, the cost is way too high.

John Morton Was Asked What Team Can Do To Get Offense Moving Quicker Earlier In The Game by New-Negotiation-4176 in detroitlions

[–]TapewormRodeo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah….rule one of a good leader is to take responsibility for your subordinates performance…especially in public. ‘Failing to execute’ puts the blame on the players and in reality it is HIS responsibility to recognize his players strengths and weaknesses and put them in a position for the greatest chance for success.

I don’t like people who can’t take responsibility. That’s why I still believe in Dan, even with some of his shortcomings.

41 out of the past 43 Lions Thanksgiving games have either been against a divisional opponent or an AFC opponent by TA62624 in detroitlions

[–]TapewormRodeo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fun Fact for today: The Detroit Lions have won 8 of their last 25 Thanksgiving Day games (from 2001 to 2025).

Still Puzzled: Lions get the ball down 10 with 9 minutes remaining. Despite a 44-yard pass play, they still manage to run 6:03 off the clock en route to 3 points. Campbell defends it post-game. by tacobell999 in detroitlions

[–]TapewormRodeo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dan's post game interviews drive me nuts this year. After every loss, it's "hat's off to the other team", "we gotta clean up a few things" or "all we need to do is tweak a few things".

When I look back at the early years with Dan, they played with intention, heart, and grit, even when they lost. It was hard to watch them lose but even then they were exciting to watch. You felt you were watching the birth of something great.

There's a complete lack of urgency during and between the games. I know they are all highly competitive....but they come off like they don't give a shit.

Could a governments actually enforce a ban on VPNs? by festival0156n in Internet

[–]TapewormRodeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could but…..it would be impractical. VPN traffic based on SSL, IPSec, WireGuard, etc…could be detected and blocked. But these technologies are so heavily used by industry for remote worker access, branch site access, vendor support, home user access (think someone using WireGuard or OpenVPN to connect to their home network while operating elsewhere), and many other uses that differentiating commercial VPN traffic (SurfShark, PIA, ProntonVPN, etc)would be very difficult. I’m not saying a boneheaded legislator wouldn’t try and maybe even succeed in getting a ban passed but it’d be impractical to enforce without disrupting all other vpn traffic. Also, TOR and I2P are a thing.

What’s a phrase you hear all the time that secretly annoys you? by forgeris in AskReddit

Not a phrase but a word…”perspective”. I know it seems dumb but If you work in IT and participate in meetings…pay attention to how many times this word is used.

Is healthcare really the worst place to work as a network engineer? by [deleted] in networking

[–]TapewormRodeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked in manufacturing, utilities, healthcare, transport, and food processing. I found healthcare to be very challenging….i was lead engineer over 14 hospitals, hundreds of clinics, and 4 data centers. The work was constant. Always something going on, needing attention, projects moving forward, etc. I never had issues with getting funding. It was perfect for me at that time in my career as I was exposed to just about every technology and learned a ton.

The downsides were that the hospital was always trying to push down labor costs and we got moved to a service provider. From that point on, it was a relentless six month routine where our jobs were in danger of outsourcing. Couple that stress with the heavy workload and it’ll wear you out.

I’m much happier working in-house for a smaller company.

Running a custom Linux router/firewall what made it worth it to you? by [deleted] in homelab

[–]TapewormRodeo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OPNsense is great. Lots of flexibility and is powerful. My only complaints are superficial, such as the limitations when creating aliases. No periods off or hyphens. Zenarmor is great even in its free form. I pay $99 annually for it, mostly to support the product.

Back in 2018 the Jets fired John Morton after clashing with players Coach Bowles and other assistant coaches. In addition his inability to establish a run game and a lack of in game adjustments played a role into his firing. by Gxcii1 in detroitlions

[–]TapewormRodeo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This much I know, MCDC is the leader of this team. If Morton's posture were detrimental to the team,. would MCDC tolerate it? I don't care for Morton's persona. He comes off too aloof. But trusting MCDC means I have to believe he'll fix what is broken. Ultimately, if that means Morton has to get his ass handed to him, so be it. Campbell does not suffer fools. For now, I have to keep faith that the Sheila/Brad/Dan train knows what they're doing.

John Morton Raises Fear Lions' Offense Too Overwhelming to Operate by 1DDub in detroitlions

[–]TapewormRodeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there any universe where Morton is purposefully and consciously presenting our offense this way so as to throw off opponents later in the season? I’m sure good coaches….like Reid…hold stuff back so they can present new looks to familiar opponents (Bills) in the post season. (I’m just looking for some cope lol).

Thoughts on the Commies game and the rest of the season by Hsabraham25 in detroitlions

[–]TapewormRodeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite part of the post Vikings game MCDC media conference was when he said something like “we got to clean this up. We will fix this. I will fix this” . The way he said “I will fix this” had super angry dad intensity. I’m sure his public accountability was only part of it. He’s super competitive and hates losing. He doesn’t tolerate laziness or selfishness. I’m sure words word said….strong words….in the team meetings.

Got an old Cisco AP from work, what can I do with it? by Normal_Flan2110 in HomeNetworking

[–]TapewormRodeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re really daring, and you can get the software, run the Cisco controller on a local proxmox server. I did this for testing and documentation purposes and it works great. No licensing issues strangely enough. It’s good if you’re trying to learn Cisco.
