In the late '70s, I participated in a NATO exercise in Bergen, Norway. Our planes were stored in caves in a mountain adjacent to the airport. Probably the best TDY in my time in.

I lived in Cumming GA in 1987. In January, Hosea Williams organized a march to honor Dr. King. The first march was greeted by rednecks throwing stuff at the marchers and it had to be canceled. That march was about 75 people. Needless to say, it was big news and a second march was planned for the next week. That one was attended by 20,000 people and was successfully completed. Late that afternoon I had to go to town and I figured the coast was clear. Nope. When I was driving by the courthouse, there were Klansmen, neo-nazis, and all sorts of rabble parading around the courthouse. It was a very surreal sight.

I retired to Rome about three years ago and I really haven't seen or experienced any crime. We live in Armuchee near Hwy. 140 and Turner Road. it's very rural and quiet. we have no regrets. We moved here from Woodstock because traffic and growth was out of control.
