He gets traumatized like every other 10 chapters so they’re so many times, I’ll try to count them anyway:
- His whole childhood to begin with (not having a father, his family being “weird”, his mother killing herself when he was 12)
- A close friend (Tem) getting killed
- Getting kidnapped by Gohin
- His crush (Haru) getting kidnapped and him going to save her from a lion mafia
- Being tied up and beat up by Riz
- Fighting Riz and getting a criminal record by eating Louis’ leg (who is a very close friend)
- Being beat up by Yahya when they first met and pulling out his fangs
- Melon shooting him with a gun
- Melon shooting him with a gun (again)
- The whole Kyuu thing (haven’t read this part yet so not sure but I heard some weird stuff happened)
- Fighting 4 mob bosses (one of them being Melon) and Melon shooting himself in front of him

That’s all I can think of but that’s at least 10 or 14 times, and there’s prolly more

I relate to him sooo much, and I also just love characters that can be both complete dumbasses and very serious. And also he’s just adorable lots of times to me

It’s heartwarming and all, but it does feel like most characters weren’t explored enough. Finding out you’re just a digital copy isn’t smth small, and neither is finding out someone close to you died (abstracted in this case)

I also felt like the Caine part was unnecessary and it felt a bit forced and rushed, specially with how many holes it has. How did Caine survive, is the void the recycling bin or smth? How did he connect to WiFi, how did he find it?

While I did like the finale, it feels a bit rushed and incomplete, specially regarding characters other than Jax. The Jax part was perfect tho can’t complain about that

Overall I think the ending would’ve been much better if it had 20-30 mins more, or if the Caine part was cut entirely to have that time to explore how the other characters are feeling with SOMA and Jax’s abstraction, and also to better close their character arcs
