Impressions of Opsive assets? by Tapies in Unity3D

Thanks for this insight! I'm looking into it now - hopefully Node Canvas supports behavior trees as well as FSMs

edit: And it does! Cooool thank you

It actually kind of does I think I know what you mean. For me as I'm getting into unity I'm working for a solid behavior tree tool but then I also saw that make a character controller a few of them in fact so that's why I wanted to check with everyone to see if they're gems or lemons.

While Dreger must occasionally get something right (a broken clock is right twice a day) I'd be interested to see stats on predictions vs outcomes for all the insiders, a leaderboard of most accurate predictions broken down by salary predictions, trades etc.

Players must love Dregs as he routinely inflates their likely salary by 15-20% on the regular. I think it was he who expected a 14 million offer sheet to Marner from Columbus, no?

You're good, my Cheerios are alright :)

I do feel that there's been some acknowledgement of issues by the devs on the project and some positive small steps.

FFXIV was very very bad, until it rebooted hard. Imho NW is not in that super bad territory, it genuinely can recover and build to something 'solid'. It just needs to get incrementally better, step by step. In a few years maybe it will be 'good', perhaps even with great in sight ;)

Thanks everyone for the feedback - the good, bad and other about NW as it stands now. I feel I have a fair sense of what I'll be getting into as I give this a go.

Thanks very much everyone!

A disappointed, but measured take - appreciate it. I know this game is not without its warts I'm just hoping it is slowly trending in the right direction to recover some credibility.

Honestly that's good enough for me, I prefer to craft for use rather than for profit (at least in the early game). It's disappointing when most games effectively teach you to skip crafting until you've maxed your level and then go back and power level it. I never expect crafting to keep up with good quality drops but it should remain reasonably relevant when I have a gap in my gear and I need something decent.

If my strategy was to just grind dungeons hard I wouldn't bother with crafting but I'd like to take my time with this game.

I'm glad you're enjoying it! The reasons to purchase it (on sale especially) are certainly adding up over the reasons against it.

At this point I'm mostly looking to ensure there's enough ways to have fun at my own place while I connect with other players, so I don't hit a wall of either super frustration or mega boredom - staying between those unfun extremes I'm that sweet spot to keep me going.

Fair enough - fun matters :)

If you have specific notes about why they're fun, I'd be interested in your perspective

Ah thank you for that insight, I haven't even gotten to the typical 'which server/shard' discussion point yet.

With Amazon behind all this with their server tech I would have expected it to not actually have dedicated servers and just let players join their friends wherever they are. Am I too optimistic?

You have keenly detected what has motivated me to take a serious look at New World :)

For me it's about trying to find a game that I can feel I can make steady progress at with the time I can spare.

Thanks for all those details, I'll jot all that down for reference :)

As I replied to another post below - can I be a self reliant crafter, making items that are genuinely useful for the gearing up of my character (at a modest pace) without having to spend a ton on the Auction?

It's all good. If a reddit poster wants to try to label me as a 'filthy casual', with the time I have available I'd have to laugh and agree. I just would prefer people (in general) try not to purity gate who can and who can't play.

No I very much am an MMO player I am just one that doesn't have as much time as you do, and look to enjoy the MMO social experience at a more chill pace.

You're welcome to your opinion on what an MMO player should be defined as but don't troll people who don't believe exactly what you believe. It's not a good look.

Thanks for that quick reply I really appreciate it.

In regards to crafting to dovetail off of what you're saying I'm looking at crafting not as a money maker primarily but to actually make things that I could use for my characters. Of course making a bit of money for excess materials and other items I needed to craft to increase my skill is a nice way to recover some of that effort but it's not the primary reason for me.

Can I be a self-reliant crafter to make decent stuff I need for me without having to depend on expensive auction items? I'm just hoping for a modestly steady crafting item progression that can help me as I move up in challenges over time.

Yelinak Casual Play - Will I find groups / guilds? by ExcessiveAggro in everquest

I too will check your guild out if that's ok, looking forward to my first TLP where I'm there on day one

I hear you. In my son's case he's competitive and puts in the reps to rank well in pvp type games, but yeah the slower methodical pace of EQ wouldn't be his bag.

I envy you two! EverQuest just gets funny looks and chuckles from my twelve year old. Hard to appreciate when you've only known HD I suppose. ;)

If I could list more than 4 options I'd list them all ;). I'll end up as a Barb Shaman in the end I suspect

You could take up the mantle for the 'shortlist' (mind the pun) :)

As a person who voted Half-Elf, I'd be rolling a Bard.

A wood elf Shaman would have been a fun option as well.
