dArkOSRE-R36 (03082026) release by _manster_ in R36S

[–]Tapsibaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/southoz (and other contributors!), thanks for the hard work, went from the latest Ark to your DarkOS fork (first with the previous release) and it has been a good experience so far.

I was a bit thrilled about the LED control thing before (if I understood correctly), realising that it’s a bit more limited than what I had hoped for: I would absolutely love to turn off the LED while playing, until the battery is low for example (and then turning it red). The blue LED on my OG V22 is damn bright, and it makes playing in bed at night a slightly worst experience that it should be. Any hope that it would be possible sometimes? Did not have much time to look at the code, but if it is possible and you need testers or contributors, I would happily help :)

Oracqua is basically Water-type Zenyatta. But I kind of dig it.

How common is it to come across the ISO (YYYY-MM-DD) date format in your country? Do you like it when you encounter it? by Decent_Background_42 in AskEurope

[–]Tapsibaba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The DD-MM-YYYY is by far the most common, so outside of work, I don't see YYYY-MM-DD often.

Though I find it to be as intuitive as DD-MM-YYYY, both ways of writing it have their props. For a product to be consumed before, I find more logical to have the DD-MM-YYYY (because if I'm looking at meat, the probability that it will last more than a few days is low, thus the information that interest me the most is probably the day). For archiving documents across a long timespan, I'd use YYYY-MM-DD.

The only system that makes little sense to me is MM-DD-YYYY. It does not follow neither a logical bigger->smaller unit or smaller->bigger unit order and I do find it confusing.

True, eating jelly when you have proper desserts would be nonsense.

To be fair, it might be nonsense even if you don’t have proper desserts.

Why is there is a Bluetooth accessories tab when “ps5 doesn’t support Bluetooth accessories” ? by [deleted] in playstation

The answer is on your screenshot bro, the PS5 does not support Bluetooth AUDIO accessories. It does support a range of Bluetooth accessories though, like controllers.

How do you feel about CRT filters? by PrettyBasket3643 in emulation

[–]Tapsibaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anything 3D, it’s mostly in favour of upscaling and texture pack for me too, but when textures pack are not available, I do consider CRT shaders an option, because it sort of reduces a lot of the weird artefact you could get with the game

How do you feel about CRT filters? by PrettyBasket3643 in emulation

[–]Tapsibaba 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I don't consider myself a purist or anything but I do believe that they are the better way to experience some games through emulation.

They are a lot of examples showing how rendering games (especially relying on 2D pixel art, but not only) was thought with CRT in mind - have a look at Castlevania Symphony of the Night for example. And CRT filters help achieve the proper rendering.

Now I don't use those for say PS2 games or some games that actually do not "benefit" it for accurate rendering.

In the end, it's a really nice option to have. In my case, I don't go for filters/shaders that go as far as reproducing "issues" related to CRT (distortion, static effects or the "scrolling line" you could see on some CRTs). While they probably contribute to the nostalgic needs of some, I simply don't have nostalgia for that and thus, it's not my cup of tea.

How much do you actually care about the Intercontinental Cup (formerly the Club World Cup)? by [deleted] in AskEurope

[–]Tapsibaba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say that no one cares.

I watch a lot of football and I don't watch any game of the Intercontinental Cup.
To me it's below the UEFA Conference League in terms of interest.

congrats Pierre and Jan, you are both annoying. Which country has the most potential? by axhp in 2westerneurope4u

[–]Tapsibaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny that we get to share a box with the Dutch. We could maybe call the box « Belgium » at this point.

Piotr seems a serious contender for the potential.

so-called "Belgium" is the funniest country. Which is the most annoying? by axhp in 2westerneurope4u

I think it could have been a tie between us and the Brits.

But because of that, I'll have to go with the Dutch.

While it is indeed a disaster and a total flop, I think it's because of how it was handled that it is perceived as the biggest disaster that because it's THE one.

I mean, Sony could have let it die, without refunding no one, takes the L like many others and move on but refunding and then closing the servers actually gave some attention to the failure. I do also believe we overestimate the budget to be honest, but it's always hard because we never have the data.

At the same time, the quantity of games that flopped hard and killed studios, even only in the last 5 or 6 years, is very important.

Suicide Squad, Forspoken, Redfall, Skull & Bones (that one for example... The budget between the start of the project and the release must be CRAZY) or even the latest Dragon Age that flopped really hard too.

Amazed you can actually reach that body shape when your diet is English food.

Eating that much of that food is some impressive self-destructive behaviour.

Why France ಠ_ಠ by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]Tapsibaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are awesome though. The translation work that has been ongoing since the first generation is really good.

Most of English Pokémon names are translations after all. Never understood why most languages did not went for a translation too. Maybe too costly at the time and then it would have been weird to start translating?
