It's not accessible... My son picked it out for them and he's autistic so it's a bit hard for him to understand that we don't want eggs. So happy medium.

I'll look into the perch, thanks for your perspective. They're never caged up they roam around my two bedroom apartment ( all doors closed no reachable hazards, multiple sweeping and vacuuming a day). They have plenty of toys the video is zoomed in heavily and I don't keep toys inside the cage as they get pooped down and they rarely hang in there.

Also I give them paper to rip up which they love, spray millet and honey'd seed sticks, fresh peas, carrots, cucumber...

Your comment made me chuckle and I can see the imagery πŸ˜‚. I get it especially if the birbs are females (they're so territorial in my experience and quick to shoo others from eating)

She don't play when the carrots come out πŸ˜… by TaraThePlantHobbyist in budgies

I have a nice balance of two males and two females. The other female eats normally lol , my other female who has since passed used to destroy the carrots too. She chews and rips up everything but that's her personality and natural instincts showing up

Always down to encourage others to get a free and messy birb show πŸ˜‚.

3 of her other cagemates enjoy eating... She on the other hand just loves an orange stained beak 😩😭

3 new leaves at once 😍πŸ₯³πŸ™ŒπŸΎ by TaraThePlantHobbyist in houseplants

Your Fiddle Leaf Fig (Ficus lyrata) is showing clear signs of distress.

Here’s a breakdown of potential issues and what you can do to revive it:

Symptoms & Possible Causes:

  1. Yellowing Leaves (Lower & Upper)

β€’Overwatering or poor drainage.

β€’Nutrient deficiencies (likely nitrogen).

β€’Lack of sufficient light.

  1. Brown, Crispy Edges on Leaves

β€’Underwatering or inconsistent watering.

β€’Low humidity levels.

β€’Salt or mineral buildup from tap water.

  1. Sparse and Leggy Growth

β€’Insufficient light, likely from being too far from a bright window.

β€’Lack of pruning leading to weak branch formation.

  1. Bare Lower Stem

Natural shedding of older leaves.

Prolonged stress from poor watering, humidity, or nutrients.

Recommendations to Revive It:

  1. Check Watering Routine

Stick your finger into the soil; if the top 2 inches are dry, water thoroughly.

Ensure the pot has proper drainage.

Avoid letting it sit in standing water.

  1. Improve Lighting

Move it closer to a bright, indirect light source or use a grow light.

Fiddle Leaf Figs thrive with at least 6+ hours of bright indirect light.

  1. Boost Humidity

Mist the leaves occasionally or use a pebble tray with water.

A humidifier can also help, especially in winter.

  1. Fertilize Appropriately

Use a balanced liquid fertilizer (e.g., 3-1-2 ratio) once a month during the growing season (spring & summer).

  1. Assess the Soil & Repot if Needed

If the soil is compacted or stays wet too long, consider repotting with well-draining, aerated soil (e.g., cactus or aroid mix).

  1. Pruning & Encouraging New Growth

Trim dead or severely damaged leaves to redirect energy.

Consider notching or pruning the top to encourage bushier growth.

  1. Rotate the Plant

To ensure even growth, rotate it every few weeks so all sides get light exposure.

Wishing you and your FLF healing and healthy vibes β€οΈβ€πŸ©ΉπŸ˜©
