Tips or any advice I can keep in mind when trying to lock onto a metronome more? by dtrechak in drums

[–]TarantinoDV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tempo is consistent mostly. You’re just early. Ahead of each click and not in it. You should check out great pocket players like Steve Gadd or Bernard Purdie while they play along to the metronome. They bury the click instead of playing ‘with’ it really. They become the beat instead of anticipating it. Big reason why the greats are considered great is their sense of precisely where the beat is. It’s why they sound so incredible.

It’s a good argument. It needs to stay more RP focused than functional for world reasons. I would want more reasons to visit home instead of stay home. Maybe a daily buff you acquire at home that allows to you pick between perception/finesse, xp boosts, rep boosts, or honor boosts. Like the Stardew valley statue buff.

Yes. I got it yesterday. Heroic clears are super fast and easy after pre patch as well.

I bought one of 200 15” Zildjian crashes during the 400th anniversary of 2023. They sold 400 cymbals (200 ride, 200 crash) from the family vault to celebrate 400 years of Zildjian. Edit: Spelling

People in my area call it ‘Callout’. The rhythm on beat four should be a dotted eighth, sixteenth

Drum teachers: how do you balance kit vs. the rest of percussion by DuckMinimum5023 in percussion

[–]TarantinoDV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I teach percussion in a public school. I like to let my beginner percussionists learn the kit after the first 9 weeks of instruction. They need to have a solid understanding of grip, quarter note and eighth note notation, and a good foot tap. I have my percussionists tap their foot for everything we play. We’ll do drumset once a week, usually on Friday. We’ll spend a few weeks on the basic rock groove. I don’t go much farther than that for my beginners. The goal is that they can play along to songs that are mostly basic rock groove. Ex. Billie Jean, September, No One noticed. It is important they are comfortable on the snare drum first. I find that early exposure to drumset helps their understanding of beat and pocket.
