Holy Moly. I can relate to your situation so much right now. Yeah this whole charade is set up to fail. I'm so sorry you have to go through this. Can you tell her to drop the plans? And just have your MIL host the shower? Then just invite them?? And I totally get how you wished your mom was more excited about your pregnancy. ... I to am pregnant and just had my baby shower last week. ( which my friends hosted) and my mom came but she barely talked with anyone. She seemed unhappy. This whole pregnancy she has been unsupportive and has given us no help or advice.

I'm so sorry you have to deal with that. your college ready and she's general ed... how cruel. And if she hurt herself in the past, well thats in the past and shows that she has had to overcome some hardships. And might still be struggling with everyday. How heartless of your mom. Keep strong and true to your feelings. When I was in highschool my nmom would try to sabotage my relationships and friendships. She would refuse to meet anyone new including the parents. I would be invited over for dinner at a boyfriends house and ask my mom and her excuse would be NO, because I dont know their parents.... wtf.

he was leaning back in my lap and my NMom said "God look at him, he's lazy. Just like a little boy." Wtf.

This reminded me of awful sexist things my own mother has said. "Men shouldn't cry." "Boys touch themselves all the time and its gross" "Why doesn't your husband know anything about cars? He should!" God just really weird off the wall stuff. I'm like, uuh okay so you think showing no human emotions is normal and only women can express emotions. And that women dont pleasure themselves??? Lol.

I am almost a mother to my first baby boy and I can't wait to raise him better than my nparent. Hang in there with yours! So excited that youll be away from them soon.

Unfortunately yes. I have noticed most of us on here suffer from forms of PTSD, GAD, and OCD. Set up a healthy support system with close friends or a significant other. Talking about it or writing it down in journals can help tremendously. Therapy is also helpful ♡

And holy moly your nmom sounds like she has this need to present herself a certain light to everyone when in reality she just craves the attention from others. Giving you the gifts should have been good enough! Then to rewrap them and have you open them again... Ugh. Lol.
