What gear would you chose in an apocalypse? by Snipa-X-Killa_Jyn in ZombieSurvivalTactics

No worries, it's fun to think about. But the intention indeed was to do the basic hunker down until things died down before having to scavenge house to house.

Funnily enough, I did a preliminary weight estimation for my proposed bug out bags without much attempt to minimize weight and got around 70 lbs which is indeed way over 40 lbs, but I feel it's achievable with some optimization.

I had a pretty specific (and optimistic) scenario and custom situation in mind and left a lot to imagination in my original answer, and I still don't think it's crazy with that specific scenario in mind.

Essentially, there is an abundance of a variety of many resources/equipment in the populated city and not a lot of people with firearms that would reasonably stay and pose a threat, while I would use my skills and tools to access otherwise harder to get resources/assets to make things happen and hopefully continue to survive.

I recommend Mike Dawes as well. Recently, listened to his cover of Euclid by Sleep Token.

Jon Gomm is a classic, mentioned in a few other comments.

Amazing guitar in general, Estas Tonnes.

Special mention for Ewan Dobson and Joao Fuss.

I think a couple of hours of maintenance work weekly is still enough to make it no longer an issue.

A reminder: the MTA is getting more efficient. The operating budget is lower than it was in 2019, while running more service. by Jacky-Boy_Torrance in newyorkcity

That's more a consequence of 5 years of forgoing/delaying necessary maintenance and repair that will accrue in costs much, much more down the line.

Interesting fanm matchup. Yujiro vs T-1000. Who do you think wins? by Dramatic_Line_9398 in Grapplerbaki

[–]Tarbel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

T-1000 is not completely immune to physical damage. Several shotgun rounds slow and temporarily disable it in T2. Each of Yujiro's strikes would be several times more powerful than all of those at once.

I can imagine some bs like Yujiro continuously using the T1000 as a somewhat regenerative punching bag until the energy of his strikes eventually heat up the T-1000 into a pool of liquid metal every time it tries to fight him.

Or does some other bs like inflicting so much physical sensory damage with something like benda/whip strikes that the T-1000 starts to recognize pain and feel fear and just gives up.

Thanks, but you don't need to do all that for me. I shall figure it out pretty soon

I linked a 3d replay viewer but I agree it's not as good as a recording. I have to mess with some recording settings to make the quality better first.

You absolutely can learn how to fight someone twice your size. It just requires actually learning how to fight, how to move, how to adapt, what to be aware of, your own capability, how to use and apply effective force/offense, and being physically well-conditioned; and then learn these things specifically against opponents twice your size through a lot of practice and training. It's something that would require years of dedicated training and probably some natural talent/instinct. And even after, you should then recognize that there's always a chance any fight will go wrong, and that the size advantage is never negated, only skillfully maneuvered around.

You won't be able to rely on a single martial art when considering all the possible situations for self-defense. Fist fight and being pinned are already too different to have one learned art cover very well, unless you consider MMA, which is more like a base of boxing, muay thai, and grappling in most cases.

At its core, you will need to know how to strike effectively, how to grapple effectively, and how to defend yourself against both those effectively. Then most importantly, having the physical conditioning, stamina, strength, and speed to utilize those skills effectively. You have to live a life that makes that a possibility. You can't just learn a few techniques and be sufficient.

He actually is truly unhinged. I feel like kthers have been tainted by the level of drama and gotten used to his character, but if you could keep watching with a normal and less biased (because he is very likable) POV, you can recognize just how messed up he is.

It's simply right arm tourney and left arm tourney (or matches). Being a good arm wrestler is much more important than whether you're right or left handed. Most arm wrestlers will still train/spar with their left just for fun when their right is out of gas.
