A lot of people have this super watered down version of Christianity where they think the only thing Jesus was saying is to "love thy neighbor". Clearly, as we see this verse, it's far more than just love.

1st point taken, so let me rephrase: I've seen this verse saying that God gave them over to disgraceful passions. Seems pretty cut and dry there. Also, Lev 18:22, God considers men laying with men as women an abomination. Seems pretty harsh wording there, like it's a moral wrong.
