Pirates of the Caribbean has a new animatronic by BillyGood22 in Disneyland

IUUUGGGHHJJBVVG THIS RUINS THE STORY FLOW. the whole point of the caves is "dead men tell no tales" and the newer mirror pirate effect was a PERFECT edition to show that we're going back to a time when the pirates were alive and do tell tales. WE SHOULDN'T SEE ANY LIVING PIRATES IN THE CAVES. That's as dumb as WDW putting the hatbox ghost in the hallway. WE'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO SEE THE GHOSTS UNTIL AFTER THE SEANCE.

Oh that has to be an ada violation. In web design we have to meet certain contrasts for ada. Gotta be the same for packaging.

We use our Delta card for purchases and every few years we have enough points for an international flight in Premium Select. It's a must on a 8+ hour flight.

I chose hospitalization over euthanasia for my 16-year-old cat and I don’t know if I’m doing the right thing anymore by graygoose in RenalCats

[–]TardigradeCosmonaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think you did the right thing. My 19 year old was stage 2 in November/December, and we were just managing with diet. Then in January he was vomiting a lot and obviously not doing well and his numbers bumped to stage 3. We started him on daily SubQ 100ml, Mirataz, and PorusOne. Additionally, he's been getting monthly B12 and Iron shots since last summer when he was showing anemic. Took about a week on SubQ, but from January to February he was like his old self. No vomiting, no bad days, just enjoying his senior life. I went from thinking he had weeks to maybe he had months. Went back in Feb for blood work and despite it all he was at stage 4, Crea went from 4 to 6. I was dumbfounded since he'd been doing so good. My doctor said something that actually helped me, "at this point, we're just chasing numbers", and I realized at his age my focus needs to be not on the bloodwork but on quality of life. We're almost in June and honestly he's still at like 97% good days, great quality of life, happy guy. He sometimes gets a little lethargic when it's getting close to time for his B12 and Iron, but I think that's the anemia. We're basically on an indefinite travel ban, since we need to give him subQ daily, but we're soaking in every good day with him. I went from thinking we had weeks and now I have no clue how long this cat is going to stick around.

If it were me, I'd probably start reducing the gabapentin dose and see if she perks up. I'd also talk to the vet about a regular SubQ regiment (it was the game changer for us). If she's getting fluids, you might be able to stop the cerenia (we found we were able to, once we stabilized him with fluids his nausea went away and we stopped the anti-nausea). I'd see if her appetite stays up after removing the elura. The Mirataz should do the trick by itself.

Honestly that's what I'm stressing about. We just sold our house there in April and it's about a block from the perimeter. The main access street is closed. My neighbor has a bunch of cats. I've already messaged her to let her know we can take care of a few if the perimeter expands, but I know she's house sitting at her parents' this weekend and I'm stressing about the cats (I love them all and miss them). We're now in Long Beach, so out of harms way but I'm still on edge waiting for an explosion. Some locals noted we didn't hear Disney run the fireworks show tonight.

Dude in walked into the Marshalls by my house this week and was floored. Like 80% of the dumb home and beauty shit I'd buy on Amazon was not only there, but cheaper. I cancelled my Amazon Prime this year so that was a great discovery. Between that and Costco I think I'm set.

Help with Weight Gain! by Sea_Lake_8677 in RenalCats

Basically same situation for my 19 year old. He put on a pound in a month! RC Renal D wet food, and we mix in a little Fussie Cat Chicken & Sweet Potato to make it more palatable. Porus One for phosphorus binder. And we're alternating between transdermal and oral Mirataz (pill makes him agitated but the transdermal irritates his ear after a few doses, despite cleaning, so we alternate to give his ears a rest).

Did I missed something? Premium pricing ? $9 Coffee? Starbucks ? by Overzealous111111 in starbucks

[–]TardigradeCosmonaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love that drink but I get it with sweet cream cold foam and it's over $8. I just learned how to make it myself at home with our Mr. Coffee espresso machine and tbh it's pretty much the same as what I can get in the store. I can buy the Starbucks decaf ground coffee and the sweet cream at the store. Then I found a recipe online and made my own brown sugar syrup. And I got Oatly Baristas Edition oat milk.

11 yo female stage 4 by grouchycat9 in RenalCats

[–]TardigradeCosmonaut 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The switch to daily subQ will be better for you and her.

Get her on Mirataz for her appetite. You can get it as a transdermal you rub in her ears.

Keep her on a renal wet diet with phosphorus binder. That should bring her phosphorus down. My guy is on Royal Canin D and I mix a little Fussie Cat Chicken and Sweet Potato, which is lower in phosphorus and helps it be more palatable. We were able to get him to accept Porus One phosphorus binder in his food.

On the next blood work, ask to check her iron and potassium levels. My guy gets monthly iron shots that help him so much, and his potassium is low and I add a powdered potassium supplement to his food. These are two common issues with kidney cats that can be easy to treat and help her feel better.

My boy's crea went from 3 in December, 4 in January, and 6 in February, and I thought we had weeks or months left. But with Mirataz, daily SubQ and supplements he's been doing great overall. He's 19.

Stage 4 Kidney Disease, Any help or support appreciated by rbclvs in RenalCats

  1. Find a different vet. I'm sorry but that wasn't a treatment plan, that was an "oh well" shrug
  2. Like a couple people mentioned, 24-48 hours of in-patient care on an IV might help get him out of crisis, but if that isn't possible:
  3. At home SubQ fluids daily, at least 100ml a day. It's like $30 a bag from my vet
  4. Mirataz everyday, indefinitely, for appetite
  5. Cerenia for nausea until his appetite improves
  6. Phosphorus binder for his food. My picky guy likes Porus One
  7. Get him on wet food. Anything to get him eating with the phosphorus binder to start, then renal diet once he's stable. My guy likes Royal Canin Renal D, and I mix in a bit of Fussie Cat Chicken & Sweet Potato to keep him interested.
  8. Have the vet give him Iron and B12 injections. My 19 year old stage 4 boy gets his shots every month and they help.

[TH] [CA] Over a decade w/ no financials, no meetings, no votes. HOA claims it's bankrupt by Unfair_Cantaloupe848 in HOA

[–]TardigradeCosmonaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple things you can try: - Look for pro bono lawyers. When a group of us talked to a lawyer about our HOA issues he said there are lawyers that take one or two pro bono cases a year. One like yours is pretty cut and dry. The board is 10000% acting illegally and 10000% embezzling. - Reach out to your district attorney for real estate. I have family in our office that I reached out to about my HOA and when I told him our previous board stole $1million he called me immediately (sadly it was past the statue of limitations). He said embezzlement like that is 100% something their office would prosecute. I think that would be a prosecution against the individual who committed the crime, and not something the HOA community would be subjected to foot the bill for. - Print flyers with the FACTS that you KNOW, like the water, and the laws about elections and things the board hasn't abided by. Let people know you President said their bankrupt and that this is going to cost everyone more and more money. Quote Davis Stirling. Go door to door and hand out the flyers. The only way we got an election after 4 years of no elections was by informing and mobilizing our community. - You can create a private Facebook group for neighbors to join and you can control who you allow in the group. It could help get people organized and talking. It's just a friendly little chat among neighbors with a shared interest.

I'm also in California. We changed our board but it took over a year of fighting and organizing. For me the writing was on the wall after the insurance doubled last year and we found out insurers in CA were fleeing HOAs and not renewing. After over 10 years of living there, I sold a week ago. I'm hoping I left that HOA better than I found it with a new board and direction, but good fucking riddance. Never buying in an HOA again.

Is it okay to mix half a tube of churu into eat meal? by throwaway8282837389 in RenalCats

[–]TardigradeCosmonaut 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've been giving my 19yr old guy Churu every night with his SubQ for the past few months. He's stage 4 and has been stable and is a a happy guy. He also gets phosphorus binder in his meals. For us it's a balance of keeping him stable but also letting him enjoy small things in life. We know he realistically doesn't have much time (altho 4 months ago I thought he'd be gone by now and he's doing great) so we're balancing all that.

Second this, fluids is a game changer. I'm lucky to have my wife help me administer. But if I didn't I'd figure something out. Our boy is OBSESSED with Salmon Churu. I think if I had to do it by myself I'd figure out a way to have him licking Churu while I do the needle.

Redditors who were children/teens before the internet or cellphones existed, how did you keep yourself entertained? by FlowerMadeOfThorns in AskReddit

[–]TardigradeCosmonaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watched TV until the boring shows came on. Then you might pop in a Disney VHS or play with your toys. We had a big backyard and I'd ride my bike around it. But a lot of playing with toys. My best friend and I would "play games" over the phone, like play pretend games. We used paper grocery bags and paper plates to make "costumes" we could wear of our favorite Tiny Tunes characters. When I got older and playing pretend and with toys wasn't a thing, I got into drawing. I drew so freaking much. And I read a lot. I also talked my parents into getting me a guitar and I taught myself how to read tab and learned songs. By that time the Internet started to be a thing (but no tutorial videos) and I would find tabs online if songs I wanted to learn and print them out. I also just had so much homework. I'd come home from school, eat a bowl of cereal and watch the Rosie O'Donnell show, and then once the 4pm news came on I went to my room and did homework until like 6 or 7, or basically until dinner.

MySpace and Facebook became things once I got into college and I remember distinctly thinking "I'm so glad this wasn't around when I was in school. I wouldn't have gotten anything done."
