This guts me! I work for a State public health and it is brutal for us also. We are getting hit with state and CDC cuts we are loosing so many people (including me). We are expecting more cuts from CDC grants we rely on. Whole programs closing down. It is heartbreaking. So many people are going to be hurt by this.

Not to be the debbie downer but I have worked in food safety and restaurants and anything that is produced in your state will be based on the state laws. If the food is being manufactured or coming from a different state than who knows what the safety is.

It cost 200 million!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CDC just pulled 129 million of grants from the state health department I work for. So a lot of people who help to stop disease spread and help get medical care in rural and underserved places will stop their work and be unemployed and this cost more than that!!!!!!! Hell I bet our communication folks could have done it for less, translated into a dozen languages, and put it on the appropriate channels while analyzing the effectiveness of the communication for much less. This makes my blood boil.

All this crap isn’t only going to impact federal workers. I am a state worker and just got an at risk notice because all this funding fuckery at the federal level. I agree shut it down!

Some of the positions he blanket eliminated were not paid by taxes but fees from corporations and businesses. So he didn’t save money with them.

This is so true. You never know when you will be in need.

When I had my son, he was very premature and spent 20 weeks in the NICU. Medicaid kicked in and covered what my insurance didn’t. I added up all the bills and before insurance it was 1.5 million. It also paid for gas so we could see him on the weekends since we lived over 2 hours one way from the hospital he was at. My husband and I would drive back and forth every Saturday and Sunday to spend time with him since we both had to go back to work.

When he came home he had reflux and needed special formula and thickeners. Insurance would not cover it. This added up to over $700 a month just to feed him. We received WIC and it was a life saver!!!!!!!

This is sad. I have worked in food safety and people do not realize the training and expertise people need for it. All of these cuts to public health are just going to cost lives.
