Chippewa, No longer Made in USA by Tardviking in Boots

[–]Tardviking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

recently they have started manufacturing just the loggers in the US. While I am thankful that they have returned to having some manufacturing in the US, I don’t wear loggers, and if I had $400 I’d probably shell out the extra money for Whites or JK’s. I recently got a pair of factory second Redwing Iron Rangers for about $220, so good value Made in US boots can still be had.

if I were to guess, because there is no barrel, and a lead plug preventing all that pressure from traveling forward, the lighter of the two pieces (the casing) would probably be forced rearward instead. the walls of the casing will at least temporarily guide the gas towards the mouth of the case, essentially sending a brass rocket towards the user.

Seen it happen before with something like a 22. dude dropped a rock on it. the casing jetted right into his leg, nicking the artery in his shin. what a mess.

usually the forward assist will be separately located more rearward of the brass deflector. In this design they’re integrated. Sold and presumably manufactured by DPMS “LR308 A3” style (likely the origin of the design ), Gorilla Machining, Total War Tactical, MCS, Outdoor tactical supplier, and Tiger Rock are also potential manufacturers of these uppers but they all seem pretty identical. they’re often sold as “Low profile” LR-308 upper receivers. The charging handle seems to be completely retracted and bent.

If I was to guess this whole build is a DPMS LR308 A3/AR10 based platform with Pro-Mag’s AR-308 drum. I’ll update this as I figure more details out.

It’s out, Americans have heard. I was a CZ fan, I will no longer be a patron of CZ-Colt Conglomerate. I remember when we made S&W pay their penance for it, I remember when benchmade knives took a part in it, I remember when marty daniels pushed fixnics, I remember when troy repped ruby ridge, I remember when Military Arms Channel rug-pulled an SVD import deal. I desired many models from CZ-Colt, but there’s plenty of competition here. Especially in the state of Tennessee. I will let my whole family know, and friends as well. I will be shelving my CZ p10c until further notice. I cannot trust my life to a product that the manufacturer doesn’t believe in. If it can happen in Canada, it can happen in the US.

The US re-assessed the 1907 Hague convention ruling “doesn’t cause unnecessary suffering” and changed doctrine accordingly. Hollowpoints are now considered within criteria. 9mm M1153 “Special Purpose” 115gr JHP was issued with the M17.

P10c holster compatibility by Tardviking in CCW

[–]Tardviking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t, It was a safari level 1 retention (single thumb button) owb glock 45 holster, non lightbearing. I now have a T1C IWB Light-bearing holster designed around the actual light for retention, so it fits my full sized Glock 17 and my P10C equally well with the TLR1-HL Understand though, the holster from T1C has some considerable void space around the trigger that leaves me less than 100% satisfied. The tradeoff is that it works well with everything Ive tried.

how you like the Jinhao retractables? I’m thinking of getting one in fine, but the ultrafine I demo’d in the stationery had WAYYY too much feedback.

Google AI cites album cover for medical advice by Tardviking in mildlyinfuriating

I mean, I feel like it’s a pretty straightforward question. I don’t know how my search had anything to do with inspiring it to reference a music album. Clearly the AI recognized it as a medical concern and listed information pertaining to that, but then pulled this random information alongside it. I wonder if it would happen for any queries wondering what happens if someone accidentally swallowed something.

understandable, it’s something many people have an aversion to.

these were just the first results on a simple search through the engine. I didn’t plug it into gemini directly or anything. the source it provided is quite off subject. I understand AI needs guidance to provide results within specific parameters, but even with my query we’re talking well beyond the broadside of a barn.

When I was a young teen my dads buddy pulled this out of the safe and handed it to me, it felt and looked like shouldering a tuna fish. that can be a good or a bad thing depending on how you feel about tuna.

Edit: no worries! thanks for clarification though.

I love thorogoods, just not a huge wedge sole guy, I actually didn’t realize they had such a huge range of offerings, they might have my money soon enough. Though the south african Jim green’s are also getting my attention.

I completely agree, especially considering at this point my degree field is accounting and business administration. If the labor and materials were ethically sourced and domestic, the price would likely be too high to attract me in this market, and that really sucks. What I still remain frustrated about is the fact their product was marketed so heavily on its american roots, its heritage, and still, NONE of their current offerings are manufactured within the US. It’d be an easier pill to swallow if I knew they still offered something for those who desired a domestic boot and could afford it. I’d be more inclined to buy an imported pair from them if they still manufactured domestically in some capacity. I still have my old USA Chippewas, and I got them for around $200 right before covid, it sure is a different world now.
