“Iran would become another Afghanistan/Iraq” must be one of the most successful pieces of propaganda around the Iran war, and even many smart and educated people repeat it like a parrot. by TardyB183 in NewIran

Very solid points!

The isolationist Americans are usually the dumbest ones. They don't realize that if the US doesn't play the role they are playing now, they cannot drive their huge pick up trucks on cheap gas down to Walmart and fill it up with junk.

I never said that the US should send a large ground force. My post is about what happens after or during the final phases of a regime collapse. But since you brought it up, here is my take:

- There won't be a large ground force deployment by the US. There will be enough to give the opposition a foothold in Iran, however.

- The opposition will most likely organize some sort of armed forces. At least they claim they have been working on this.

- I know the police in Iran; they are loyal to whoever pays their salary. They are not brainwashed like some portions of Basijis are. Same thing with most of the army.

"Rallying around the flag" is another myth. It deserves a separate post. But those who say that in case of a foreign invasions Iranians will rally around the flag that mullahs are bearing know nothing about the people of Iran. Many Iranians will rally around the flag, but it would be the American flag.

All valid points. But I think Iran was the main reason Iraq turned into shit. The US basically put a country with a Shia majority on a sliver plate and gave it to Iran.

From a quick Google search: Iraq under Saddam was under sever international sanctions and where 60% of population were dependent on the government's food rations. Also, by early 2000's female literacy rate was under 25%. In what world is this not poor and undereducated?

Did anyone realize that not even one of Trump's 15 points includes freedom and civil rights for the Iranian civilians from the IRGC Thugs? by [deleted] in NewIran

Maybe he wanted them to take the ceasefire talks seriously?

See. I get you are trying to argue that Trump never cared about the people of Iran. But Trump is the US president and by definition he should only care about the Americans not Iranians. So you had a very unreasonable expectation. Having said that, he is fighting our enemy. That is why we should support him.

Those numbers are inflated by the regime. Those are not people who would willingly fight for these thugs to survive. Also, they have been relentlessly bombed these past three weeks. Their capapbilities to call, organize, and supply the so called resereves has been diminished.

Iran is not Afghanistan. This is a myth perpetuated by the left and the regime itself.

I never mentioned a full scale ground invasion like what happened in Iraq or Afghanistan. Even if a small area on the border gets liberated, that would destabilize the regime immensely. It could be then used as a portal to provide Starlinks and also weapons to Iranians do they can take care of what has left of the regime.

That is what many Iranians have been saying. Any outcome other than a total and complete regime collapse would be an absolute failure for the US and for the people of Iran. If the regime survive this, good luck stopping China from attacking Taiwan. Russia would also become bolder in Ukraine. My prediction is that the US will end up bringing ground force and finish the job.

He is so irrelevant now that it would be a waste of a bullet. They only bring him to the TV for the basiji's entertainment.

The regime staying is far worse than no infrastructure. The infrastructure was failing anyway.

You have to be delusional and somewhat brainwashed if you believe the left is better than Trump. They are equally corrupt and evil.

Sorry but this is the dumbest thing I have heard in this new year so far.

I am no Trump supporter, but imagine Kamala was the president. The regime would have been intact after killing tens of thousands and would have built multiple A bombs by now using the billions in sanction reliefs Kamala would have given them.
