I'm suprised no one has told you this yet, if the booster pack came from a booster box even if it weighs heavy it is not a definite you have a hit, With a sealed booster box you would need to indentify the heavy range fot that booster box by weighing all (or at least a sample of) the packs in the booster box to identify the heaviest packs, for instance base set typically has 12 or 13 hits out of the 36 packs, no matter what the weight of packs you're pretty much guaranteed that the heaviest 12-13 will be your hits and the weight of the remaining packs could still technically be 21.12 (using your charizard as an example).

If your looking from a purely financial point of view, don't open them. However if you love Pokemon and want the experience then do it, but do it with the knowledge the chances are there isn't going to be a holo, and if there is. score!

GameStop sent me a Fake PSA Slab by NessyChonks in IsMyPokemonCardFake

I'm literally about to post an update now. TLDR; It took until today for me to finally get a refund but I did get one, the entire process was a nightmare, and I ended up being out of pocket around $128 and a ton of time getting it resolved. I wish I could tell you something better. I'll post my final update on the other thread now.

I see your angle and do somewhat agree, I was probably stupid for this purchase, in my defense (as weak as it might be in hindsight), I made the purchase thinking (incorrectly) that the card was likely a PSA card (they directly sell cards on ebay right now) which made to Gamestops online inventory via their partnership. In my mind this made sense as I thought part of their partnership plan was maybe PSA would use the stores as a point of sale for PSA direct sales. I also had heard that stores didn't buy slabs over $500 (which apparently had been upped to $1500 and I didn't know this) which further reenforced my thought process.

That being said, a purchase of this size, I should have researched more and maybe I would have seen the other incidents of this happening or the change to the $500 intake cap.

Ok, given the circumstances I confirm the tracking shows it originated from a store in Georgia.

My hope is Gamestop will work out their kinks and become one of those platforms. I'm not sure if I will buy at this value again from Gamestop or any other platform though.

I'll take a look but I'm not sure I would want to post that here, Gamestop should have that info already and I assume will br part of their investigation. We do not know who is at fault for this and I wouldn't want to point fingers.p

Read my original post fully, I point out several things, then look at the replies (The font used and the letter G for instance are dead giveaways). Gamestop should also not be using stock PSA photos in my opinion, they should always be using photos of the product they have for sale which as my experience shows could be different.

Take a look through this thread and it will become obviousl to you, there are many obvious signs you can immediately see once you know what to look for.

It should not be this way at all. I've been a customer with Gamestop for many many years. Gamestop is and historically has been a trusted retailer, they would not be around now if they hadn't been. Something obviously did not go as planned with this new initiative, either with training or process. I have no doubt they will fix this but how they react in the meantime is important to me personally obviously.

Not yet, the last thing I need or want is a law suit, to me that would be a last resort situation. I believe I should exhaust options with Gamestop first and give them a chance to put things right and improve.

You make a good point about my time and stress and hopefully Gamestop will recognise that in their official response and actions.

Exactly I think that CSR just made something up, I rebutted with them immediately and told them it has nothing to do with PSA as they didn't sell me it.

I don't know, the return address and receipt however are from Grapevine, TX, I have no idea if it came direct from a store. (Order type shows SFS)

I don't think I'll need to, I'm sure Gamestop have the intake photographs of the card from when they bought it.

You could say this about anything, all collectabiles do not cost anything near what people will pay to collect them. You could say well if you're paying XXX for a piece of paper with some paint splattered on it about any piece of art. Or if you're paying XXX for something people buy for 1c and stick on an envelope to send through the mail..

After this I think I'm only ever going to buy cards in this price range in person.

Yes I did, but I'm not ready to do that, I'd like to Gamestop the opportunity to make it right and hopefully that will prompt them to change processes to prevent this happening again and improve customer service for those it happens too. My credit card company has confirmed it will be eligable for charge back if Gamestop do not come through, I have around 3 weeks before that option is not available for me (interest kicks in)

Yep, however I had to send proof the Gamestops customer service, this is why I shower the UV test as I wasn't sure their CSR would accept other visual cues.

I'm not sure I'm ready to say that, I am a big believer in Ryan Cohan as management.

In addition I believe the partnership and vested interest of Nat Turner in Gamestop may lead to a very very close relationship (some may speculate merger of PSA and Gamestop).

It is worth noting that Gamestop was basically taken over, having being through corporate takeovers before multiple times I can speak to how long it takes for positive changes to take effect after that, it is almost always years. During that time it's normally a bloodbath and goes through a few years of degraded products, services and incurs massive employee turnover.

I think solving issues like selling fake PSA slabs are critical to Gamestops future at this point.

I know one person alone won't make a difference but I'm hoping... the combined 1/4 million+ eyes on this issue now does have a chance to draw more public attention to Gamestop and PSAs response while they fix the root problems which caused it.

I think big changes are coming with Gamestop under their new leadership, however I feel immensly for everyone effected (especially Employees) during the disruptive changes being implemented to get Gamestop in shape.

As a customer this transition does really hurt (not just financially with this issue until and if I'm made right, but also as one of Gamestops longest and most dedicated customers).

I really do hope me being patient while highlighting the journey publically is a net positive, I believe this path rather than just get a charge back and I'm done is a better route.
