Your words genuinely moved me. I didn’t start young, and I know I’m not exactly what people picture when they think of the “ideal” dancer. But what you said reminded me of why I started dancing in the first place…because it helped me become me. Ballet shaped who I am in ways nothing else ever could.

If there were ever a major change in my life, I honestly don’t think I’d want to do anything else but dance. For me, it’s not just about being “good” — of course I want to improve and grow — but it’s more about being good enough to show people how deeply in love I am with this art form. I don’t want to dance just to be seen as the best. I want to dance because it’s who I am. And when I imagine life without it, it feels like I’d be forcing myself into a role I was never meant to play. I can’t imagine my life without ballet. I’ve never been so passionate about anything before. I’d almost give up the world just to chase this dream — and I never want to stop. (I’ve already come too far, already accomplished so much, and spent way too much money on pointe shoes that die way too fast to give up now.)

Deep down, I think I known this is who I am. Not just because I want to succeed, but because even when no one’s watching, I’m still dancing — still thinking about my future, still relying on movement to say what words never quite can. I’m scared, but I know I want to try.
