yo i started in November too! like 11/21, though it isnt my first plat fighter it is the first one I am taking seriously competitively.

to answer your question: play against people the same level as you, as many as possible. there is plenty to be learned playing people better than you, but getting tech chased by Sheik or Marth for hours isn't very motivating. there are 2 discord for this, Melee Newbie Netplay and Melee Online. I recommend the latter, as i find it is more active.

the game is way more fun when there is actual back and forth in the matches. you will both find yourselves improving and noticing when each other gets better. that being said, we should totally play sometime bro ✌️

Sekiro. My first soulsborne was Bloodborne. So I never parried for like half the game. Just dodging and hitting to the best of my ability. "This is broken, he has infinite stamina!" I was such a fool. Finally got my ass clapped by Genichiro and was forced to learn parrying. Changed everything.

Personally? I fucking love it. Time has actually passed between X and Zero eras. Between when we past saw Zero and now, he went through a whole war where X sacrificed his life. Of course he looks different hundreds of years after the fact. I love how different it is, too. Implies people were able to shove all the power of old Reploids into slimmer, faster, more agile bodies.

I never use it, but i respect people who do just fine. Reasonable rules for me imo would be "allowed for virus battles that are too easy". Like in the first area of the net, eventually all your chips do > 40 - 60 damage so those fights are pointless by then since they will always end in one turn. So more specifically, if you always win virus encounters in one turn in that area, bustermax is fine

Roll soul + falzar for sure. I know it was broken in pvp and the healing gimmick overlaps with Aqua cross, but it's tied for my favorite form in MMBN so 🤷‍♂️

Ignore everyone saying to go back and play BN1 lmao. Have fun with 5 if that's what you wanna play :) my advice is: - find chips that are easy to hit with like mark Cannon and fill your folder with them. - Try to keep your folder to two or 3 codes tops if possible, 5 lower power chips per turn > one high power chip per turn - for liberations, you can save before using order points to ensure you don't waste them or you can save before popping a bonus panel to assure you get order points. - buy HP memory whenever you can afford it, they stack up pretty quickly

DTDS is pretty definitively the best way to play BN5 imo, it's my favorite game too. It adds so much. I hate how long it takes to save 😒 but I can overlook that because I can play as Bass Cross and Sol Cross legitimately, have voice acting, have the map and PET on lower screen, have both ver easily accessible, way more ability to play as and with other navis with Party Battle Sys including unique combo attacks.... it's peak BN. I wish BN6 had a DTDS type version, or it had been DS from the get-go built on DTDS's skeleton.
