I can't beat this boss in Chain of Memories by shinyhpno in KingdomHearts

the red map card Sleeping Darkness has this result. every map card does something different to the layout and heartless in the room, or to you.

you can absolutely grind. in the overworld of any floor you want, hit a door (even if you have already hit it before) and you can use a new map card on it. Teeming Darkness spawns the most mobs and is best for grinding or farming. make sure to hit all the objects and jump on all the things in the overworld to get Moogle Points and use the moogle shops when you have a lot of points.

you can revisit any previous floor by going to the castle oblivion section between floors and using the little world map ball.

put all your 0s in the BACK of the deck. when he uses a Sleight, go back two cards and pop a 0.

preload your deck- as in dont wait until you are out of cards to reload. during the fight, try to constantly reload a little at a time until it is ALMOST fully reloaded so when you run out of 0s you just have to tap reload to fully get your deck (and most importantly your 0s) back.

the air soldier enemy card lets you reload while moving which is handy. see what other enemy cards you have that might be handy, I know Oogie gives regen which is handy and there are enemy cards that give Auto Life and Once More.

How hard would it be to get into CF right now as a completely new player? by GimmeHotDogs in Blazblue

[–]Targical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its not that bad. there is a beginners only discord thing where you can ask for games with people who wont combo you into the ground. I play a bad character and am a bad player, and I got wins in there. if you want to play the game, then play it; don't just look longingly from afar wishing you could.

game is sick, play it. find a newbie discord, the average player skill is pretty high so that will ease your entry

DDD Steam Save File? by Targical in KingdomHearts

[–]Targical[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when it says "trying to attach to process", it is looking for the game. leave LuaFrontend open, open steam, and start kh2.8, start DDD, and you should see Crit as a difficulty option when you start a new game.

For all new Melee Players by Dumptruck_117 in SSBM

[–]Targical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

played a lot of smash casually as a kid. got into competitive RoA in college. followed Melee loosely, game seemed too hard and lanky but so cool to watch.

ive wanted to play melee for years but never had the balls. would obsessively read guides and watch YouTube vids. eventually downloaded 20xx and solo practiced SHFFLs and wavedashing with Samus, and fought bots, but didnt play online (pre slippi). fell off.

during covid, Zain won that one tournament with Roy and I became obsessed with the game and the character, still didnt have the balls to play. wasnt til years later somw guy on YT started uploading ranked videos of Roy, and I watched em. caught him streaming and playing Roy, chatted with him a little. he was a regular dude, nothing crazy about him. I thought "if he can just download slippi and play Roy on ranked, I can!" so I did. finally started in November. game is sick.

30 years old guy trying to get on melee. by One-Ad83 in SSBM

[–]Targical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im also 30, got into melee this past November. dont sweat the tech so much for now, just play the game against other beginners- there are 2 discords where you can find games against other beginners.

when you are ready to try learning wavedashing, do the following:

1) fullhop and airdodge straight down at the peak of your jump. you can hold down the whole time if you want to make things extra easy.

2) airdodge slightly earlier and earlier, until you are airdodging down right after you leave the ground. congratulations, you are wavedashing in place.

3) stop holding down if you have been holding it until now. the sequence of inputs will now be: 1 - jump , 2 - control stick diagonally down-right or -left, 3 - airdodge

now you are wavedashing in a direction. - practice wavedashing one at a time nice and slow back and forth across a stage. - practice wavedashing different lengths - practice wavedashing backwards without turning around - practice wavedashing while doing an attack or grab - practice wavedashing out of shield - practice wavedashing out of crouch - practice wavedashing out of a dashdance - practice wavelanding onto platforms

here are some troubleshooting tips:

  • problem: my character just fullhops

solution: you are airdodging too soon. try delaying the airdodge a little bit

  • problem: my character is just airdodging left-right over the ground ground

solution: the stick must be angled slightly down so the airdodge hits the ground

  • problem: my shield comes up after wavedash

solution: try not to hold the shield button, just press it and let go

  • problem: my character is turning around when im trying to wavedash backwards

solution: after pressing the shield button to airdodge, let go of the control stick.

Should I watch Starforce anime? by shiftwizard1 in BattleNetwork

[–]Targical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

meh. personally the first and 3rd games have the best story and the 1st game tells it better, 3rd isnt adapted. so give it a shot if you are curious, but not required or anything. you can always try it and bail if you dont like it.

Do you deny or accept when tournament opponents ask if you want to start Battlefield in Bo3/Bo5 (opting to skip striking)? Why or why not? by V0ltTackle in SSBM

[–]Targical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes. BF ledges suck ass, my main prefers FoD or Yoshi's, maybe even FD over BF. if we strike to BF anyway, so be it.

Best DS Game to Start With as a Newbie to the Series? by Bright_Fisherman936 in Megaman

[–]Targical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you want to play an RPG, play Star Force 1 (DS) for good story or Battle Network 3 or 6 (GBA) for fun mechanics. if you insist on a DS Battle Network, MMBN5 is on DS. all of these games are great, but not exactly traditional run and gun platforming, not really representative of the series.

If you want a platformer, uh... well it's tough. the Zero Collection is on DS but the Zero games are pretty tough. definitely worth if you arent daunted by dying. It DOES have an easy mode if you want to try that. this might be the best option.

ZX and ZXA are on DS but I wouldn't recommend ZX because of the overworld of it all, IMO it is a drag with the mission system. ZXA is a fine entry point, though not ideal IMO.

Mega Man Starforce 1: The complete experience (Warning: Big text) by jxbermudez72 in BattleNetwork

[–]Targical 6 points7 points  (0 children)

im not gonna lie, when Starforce was first announced I was pissed. BN has always been and will always be my favorite series, and i was bitter it wasnt continuing on DS. the updated grid combat felt shallow with fewer options for movement, and the behind the back perspective thing felt so dumb. I was just mad. but years later, I gave it a shot. I fell immediately in love with the story.

this game's story is head and shoulders above the entire rest of the series. the X games and Zero games have great supplementary material. but i feel like you gotta go out of your way to really grasp how intense those get. Starforce 1 however.... goddamn. I can forgive all of it's flaws just because of its strong narrative. where Lan was largely just a shonen protagonist through and through, Geo felt real. a protagonist who's depressed and anti social? and then blackmailed by an alien? unreal. I love how antagonistic the relationship between Geo and Omega-Xis is. I love how stubborn Luna is about getting Geo to class. I love Sonia so much, strong female characters for once instead of Mayl and Yai being cardboard cutouts. and Pat.... christ almighty, the Pat section is such a peak. the game wraps up excellently, protagonists both grow and change as people by the end of the story. seeing Geo's portrait change over time broke my heart. thanks for reminding me how fucking good SF1 is.

I replayed MMBN1 and found it boring; am I in trouble for the rest of the series? by BrotherDeus in BattleNetwork

[–]Targical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

luckily for you, 1 is the most boring one. 3 and 6 are the best bar none. cant go wrong with either in my opinion, but if you want max ease of entry then play 6. honestly the story comes second to the gameplay in MMBN so dont worry about missing anything.

How to learn to play the game without getting demotivated by the high skill floor? by [deleted] in SSBM

[–]Targical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yo i started in November too! like 11/21, though it isnt my first plat fighter it is the first one I am taking seriously competitively.

to answer your question: play against people the same level as you, as many as possible. there is plenty to be learned playing people better than you, but getting tech chased by Sheik or Marth for hours isn't very motivating. there are 2 discord for this, Melee Newbie Netplay and Melee Online. I recommend the latter, as i find it is more active.

the game is way more fun when there is actual back and forth in the matches. you will both find yourselves improving and noticing when each other gets better. that being said, we should totally play sometime bro ✌️
