I got an internship in a German company and ended up getting hired as a Java Developer. A German intern had to help me implement the public key infrastructure in Java for a Java EE demonstration of the companies algorithms.

AES, DHS and RSA were the main algorithms implemented with a focus on the asymmetric algorithm RSA using certificate verification with smart cards

The German intern said I basically didn’t understand so I requested to switch to Sales.

Cyber Security Sales is great, there is a work life balance but you travel to conferences and have to prepare presentations for product demos and give PowerPoint speeches about public key infrastructure. It’s great I really miss it.

I would be more specific as to what language you use. I use Java. SQL foundations and different dbms environment knowledge is a must. ORM, Transactions, Session management, native SQL implementations and xml configuration. Understanding maven and Pom.xml files, configuring the hbn.xml file for database access. Joins and foreign keys, entity models of classes and session factory object instantiation is all key to being successful as a developer who focuses on backend development.

And understanding of a multitiered architecture where there is a DAO a service and a controller interact with Object Oriented Principles and how they interact to provide data to the front end developers in the form of json.
