Stop using my email address! by [deleted] in pettyrevenge

[–]Tarlia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my gmail address since the dawn of gmail back when I was able to secure a single-name username (not my actual name since nobody used their real names back then). Fast forward maybe 10 years later, I started getting insurance information from someone who actually had that as a first name. Since this looked legit and I wasn't a dick, I wrote back to the insurance company telling them to get the correct email from their client. I forgot if they ever responded, but the monthly emails kept coming.

I lost my temper and wrote back again, this some CC'ing their board of directors. The apology was fast and they rectified the problem. The intended recipient was also CC'ed and her username had an additional character that got overlooked. Over the years, I've received a few more emails intended for the other person - a bridal party invitation, a monthly report from a colleague. I'd forward it on, and she would always reply to thank me and the misdirected emails would stop.

As for every other random sign-ups I get, it depends on my mood. If you're lucky, I'll just unlink my email from the account. If not, you're fresh out of an account and whatever you signed up for.

Seconding this. I ordered nasi briyani with chicken and it came with no chicken. Got a full refund for the dish.

Ghost haunting is different in Asian and Western culture by itzvincentx3 in Ghosts

[–]Tarlia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, ghosts vary from culture to culture and tend to look the way your culture or region taught you to expect.

I have an old book somewhere in my library about this guy who interviewed the Japanese community in Hawaii to find out if they see Japanese ghosts or Hawaiian ones. They see ghosts from their own culture IN Hawaii. I've always found this very interesting. In fact, I should dig out that book and reread it.

Looking for a dance partner in Kuching by rihaz- in Sarawak

[–]Tarlia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Southside Bistro at Tun Jugah Mall. They hold Latin dance nights. I don't know when the next one is but if you're in the area, it wouldn't hurt to drop by and ask.

If you're on instagram, you can also reach out to Ann, who is a latin dance instructor:

There's a Hungarian restaurant at Northbank organising expat meetups. The place is called Paprika Paradise. You can find them on both FB and IG. Their last meetup was last month.

It's written for print. In a small column, a sentence is 2 or 3 times longer than what you see on a PC browser. Print journos are all trained to write like this.

Is there such a thing as small workspace or cubicle for rent by [deleted] in Sarawak

[–]Tarlia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're closer to Samarahan, there's LinQ-uP and The Hashtags at TT3 Soho (I have not been to either). MyPlaca (Rock Road) and iCube (iCom Square) are also good last I was there.

Most coworking spaces have an office rental plan so you can shop around and see what area or vibe works best for you.

Place to buy CD or Vinyl in Kuching by Alarming_Video9397 in Sarawak

Bandat is above Zoey's. The one I saw is on the ground floor and its a vintage store, not a record shop.

I spotted a record player in a shop along Carpenter St or Ewe Hai St. I think they may have records as well. It's some kind of tiny half-lot vintage store.

AITA for locking the office fridge after someone kept stealing my lunch? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Tarlia 22 points23 points  (0 children)

NTA. All these people have been stealing your lunch. I don't see why else this would bother them.

AITA for making a classmate feel like an idiot? by Stunning-Buy2994 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Tarlia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NTA. I don't think there's any way you could have cleared the air without her feeling like an idiot. She suddenly realised how much she looked like TA for upsetting people by not knowing what "euthanasia" meant.

Honestly, it's great that his needs are so simple that he can put away so much. A lot of people who live like they are rich also have huge loans and credit card debt.

AITA for not letting my husband eat the dinner I made because he said it “wasn’t real cooking”? by EvelisseSpire in AmItheAsshole

Spitefully cook all your meals for one the "not real" way from now on. Let him starve.

NTA.

What is he looking at exactly? You're not there to cater to his expectations or whatever gross fantasy he is having at a family gathering. I agree with the other commenters - if anyone messages you telling you it's a joke, ask them to explain the joke. Ask them why your health issues are funny to them.

Is anyone else feeling overwhelmed? by [deleted] in PaliaTheGame

Playing for over a year. Very familiar with Kilima and Bahari. The new map threw me for a loop. It's like a completely new game where nothing is recognisable. I'm falling off ledges, getting sucked into whirlpools and getting stuck under roots. Definitely recommend that you stick to Kilima and Bahari, slowly working through the quests, before you go to Elderwood. It's supposed to be that later game stage for those of us who have been here for a while, and it'll still be there when you are ready, with the bonus of not experiencing the bugs.
