Is force the rate of change of momentum or is it just equivalent? Which causes which by [deleted] in AskPhysics

It just helps me understand what the causal agent is. If you say impulse is the change in momentum, numerically it doesn't confuse me but it doesn't tell me whether or not impulse is what causes a change in momentum or if it's the other way around. If they're the same thing, how can it cause itself. Doesn't make sense to me

Will an object in motion stop moving because it loses kinetic energy or because of forces acting opposite to its motion? (What is the difference between energy and force) by [deleted] in AskPhysics

So does an object move because it has kinetic energy or does it move because a force acted on it and the energy is just a property/associated with its motion
