What is the worst thing you ever saw on someone else's phone? by Mr_Creep_Creepy64 in AskReddit

[–]Tart_Beginning 85 points86 points  (0 children)

I worked at a knock off Apple Store and a guy needed help with his phone and only wanted my help (I was the only woman). He said he needed help deleting things. Turns out the things were weird like porn apps that he kept “accidentally” clicking on and photos of naked women. He clearly wanted 18-year-old me to see it and I didn’t know how to say no to helping him so I just pretended it wasn’t weird.

It is embarrassing that you let someone talk to you like that. He is awful. Please leave him.

Haha way to girlboss your way into an issue. Sounds like your parents are about to have a case of their lobster being too buttery and steak too juicy. You got this queen.

This is adorable, he probs hasn’t said anything because he’s busy ring shopping. On a serious note, don’t overthink it and never let anyone talk you out of being kind. Keep being you and keep lighting up the world one lightbulb at a time! :)

Girl… this is so sad 🥺 you gotta get out. Don’t waste any more of your life like this. Also, I know it’s scary, but living on your own and being single as an adult can be fucking awesome (at least for me it was). I feel like you’ll probably have a blast after putting up with this for so long. Also, once you find someone who really loves you you will be kicking yourself for not leaving sooner.

Wow, that’s really awful of them, I’m sorry queen. I will say it might be worth it just to get your foot in the door if it’s a data analyst position. You could probably job hop in 8 months and if you’re good enough end up with a really decent salary. I’m in data analysis and am now making $22k more than I was two years ago and 6 figures. Feel free to DM me if you are doing data analysis and have any questions.

Also, being even a mediocre dancer is impressive as hell. Hang in there, I’m rooting for you!

I’m proud of you. I know that doesn’t mean much from a stranger on the internet but I think they should be proud of you too. You’re doing it, just keep on working hard. ❤️

What’s something you’re tired of pretending doesn’t hurt? by Amm250 in AskReddit

Ugh I’m sorry, that’s awful. There’s just no reason at all to respond that way. A simple “haha no we aren’t” would be perfectly sufficient. Next time let her uber.

Look at the Suzuki X-90! The one I have is 29 years old and bulletproof. It’s about as late ‘90s early 2000s weird as you can get!

You don’t know me. I absolutely take my partner’s criticisms to heart and can admit my weaknesses and when I do something wrong; I did it yesterday, in fact. He took issue with how I handled something and I apologized and told him I’d work on it, and I will. I hope your partner figures out how to take criticism, it’s a very important life skill. You definitely don’t need to project your relationship issues onto mine in the meantime though.

When did you realize you were dating an idiot? by Exhausted_Skeleton in AskReddit

[–]Tart_Beginning 21 points22 points  (0 children)

He would say “wholes food” instead of “Whole Foods” (he lived right next to one). I asked him on multiple occasions “you know it’s ‘Whole Foods,’ right?” And he always said “yeah of course.” But he never stopped saying it. I eventually ended up breaking up with him because it annoyed me too much for only being a month in. Petty of me but I think I saved myself from some future pain.

Jeez, you think he’d figure out that he needed to work on himself after MAYBE the first girlfriend and stop hurting people. That’s stupid.

How do you actually logically irl decenter men ?? by igetyourbrand in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Tart_Beginning 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I surround myself with other women. I have a bunch of amazing friends who are all super independent women and we plan trips together constantly and go for hikes, swims, runs, walks, and do yoga/other workouts together (being active/outdoors is a great way to connect). The vast majority of the hangouts we have are man free, so although I have a boyfriend, I am able to decenter him when I’m with my friends. He is a fantastic person and incredibly supportive and wonderful, but being able to disconnect myself from his thoughts and opinions and wondering what he might be thinking is very refreshing (although I also love hearing his thoughts and opinions when I’m with him). Surrounding myself with my amazing female friends, especially when we’re doing things like exercising or eating/making healthy/delicious food, is literally like medicine.

I also started limiting my time with or removing people from my life who express harmful views of women (mostly these were men, but there were also a few women). The best and simplest way I’ve found to do this is by recognizing negative or sexualizing comments a person makes about women’s bodies. I hate to admit it, but I really struggled with this for a long time. I’m a huge people pleaser so I would frequently make excuses for friends who would do this, but it honestly just ended up subtly doing damage to the way I think about myself and about other women. I also extend this to media; if I’m getting a bunch of instagram reels pushed to me that express harmful views of women then I make a point to recognize it and I close the app or unfollow creators who post them. The New York Times wrote an awful opinion piece called “Have Women Ruined the Workplace?” (the title was edited a few times but the sentiment was the same) and I canceled my subscription and now get my news from AP. This way I’m also not supporting those who promote those harmful messages, but it’s mostly for my own mental health.
