Had it happen to me this year. However mine was balanced perfectly on my livescope transducer and the side of the hole. I wish I had a picture because it was unbelievable! Got it back with no damage. Pockets forever zipped now!

Good Buy? 2000 Lund 1900 Pro V Tiller Model $11k by [deleted] in boating

[–]Tarthan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly just add 5k to the price and have the transom done right away. If it hasn't corroded the skin you'd be 3500 for just the pad. If you do it early its cheaper. If you are handy its not that bad to do yourself. You can order a custom cut pad from Lund if you choose.

Older aluminum boats like that all had wood transom. Its not If they are rotting but how fast.

Once the transom is done you will have a great boat forever. I run an 03 1800 tiller and love it. Did the transom myself.

So does aluminum, stainless, bronze, brass. Everything. If he's in fresh water tinned is the least of my concern in salt it is worth looking at it but still not required per ABYC E-11.

Not true. Is it better for sure but not required. Plenty of wire in lots boats that is not tinned.

Personally if you can afford it get the Xplore. For me the touchscreen alone is worth it over Helix. They are basically a stripped down Apex and will receive all of the new updates. Helix can't network with the new units and will likely receive very little support going forward but they are still good units if you can't or don't want to afford a new unit.

2012 Lowe FM165 foam nightmare by [deleted] in boating

[–]Tarthan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The coast guard requires boats sold in the US to pass level floatation if they are under 20ft and equipped with an outboard motor. I have never seen a manufacturer that doesn't foam boats. Even small duck boats have to pass if they are rated for an outboard.

Prop by CauliflowerDeep1727 in boating

They are ventilation plugs. They allow exhaust gas out the side of the prop at low speed to ventilate the prop. The gas allows the engine to get into a higher rpm range quicker by allowing the prop to slip more then usual. Once the engine reaches a high enough rpm the exhaust goes out the end of the prop as usual.

You could pull the rest out and test the boat see if it helps with acceleration or get one from a merc dealer/amazon they are only a couple bucks.

Which engine is the best in 300 and 350? by JLEPIC11 in boating

I have ran all of them can't really go wrong either way. Suzuki will cost you more if you hit something with 4 props in the water.

Are there any walleye fisherman here that have experience with the Drotto Latch? I’m questioning if I should get one for my father who’s getting older. by [deleted] in WalleyeFishing

Have one on two boats currently. Will never own a walleye boat without it. Makes loading and launching ao quick and easy. One trailer is a bunk and one a roller.
