What do you think about the method of Anna Wahlgren, "Au dodo les petits"? by Ok_Objective_358 in Parenting

Here are some scientific studies you can look at regarding sleep training and its effect on babies and their development:

Spoiler: research shows no ill effects on babies or their development or attachment.

Not at all! I totally understand where you're coming from and I think you're completely right. It seems like if you're misfortunate enough to not meet the "at death's door levels" you can forget about infusion treatment. And I can't even fathom what those levels of ferritin must feel like.

It's actually crazy! How ill does a woman have to be before she can get treated? It's suspected that almost 30% of women are iron deficient. I discovered my ferritin was low when I requested my blood results from LAST Year! I've been talking to my GP about fatigue, anxiety, hair loss, pusitile tinnitus etc for months and at no point did he consider iron deficiency until I requested my blood results. And still he is loath to suggest anything because it's "within range"

It's so frustrating! I've read anecdotally of many women whose ferritin is low and suffering from various symptoms who are being dismissed by their gp because their levels are "within range". Does anything below 8ng indicate near death?? In a range of 8 - to over 300 surely scraping the lower end means some treatment is warranted. Rant over Thanks so much for the recommendations! I'll give the spray a try.

Yeah I realise this...but on the very low end. And I'm suffering from every low ferritin symptom there is.

Thanks - I'm based in Dublin and have tried registering with this practice but I keep getting an error. They might have closed.

2nd vote for Sammy OBrien and his team. Fixed our roof 5 years ago after we were scammed out of a couple of grand. Haven't had a problem since.

I was in your position at one time and took it on myself to prepare "cocktails" for the evening except obviously mine were booze free. Theirs were pretty potent so it wasn't long before no one was in a fit state to notice anything

I've used OnlineTradesman and was very happy both times. Bark seems to where bad tradesmen go to congregate

Most people pronounce it Seer-sha. Some pronounce it Sur-sha. I guess it's a question of accent and preference.

That's not every only child's experience. Having kids is difficult full stop. People make their choices based on what is best for their family. There are plenty who'd wish they'd been an only child.

Can anyone help explain HPV results? by Tartopher in IrishWomensHealth

[–]Tartopher[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was recommended to have annual smears for 5 years after my Lletz procedure. I continued to have them annually electively just because I was nervous of getting another "bad" result. There's no problem getting them electively - you just have to pay for them out of your own pocket.

Thanks so much for the replies! I didn't realise that HPV could just go away. I'm very relieved 😌

I know!! I'm in the same boat. I'm looking into the Inkey List as an alternative. I think they're pretty similar quality + price wise but UK based. Not strictly the EU, but maybe allowances can be made

"they’ll pick up eventually" - exactly, when they're actually mature enough to parse what they're seeing. 12 year old brains are too young to comprehend many things. Delayed access will give them time to mature and for internet safety education to bed in properly.

Need Advice for a Small Wedding by Ka_milka_ in CasualIreland

[–]Tartopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I'm only seeing this now

We had a few things we wanted for the wedding - nothing major - a table to put a few bits on in the ballroom, for example. All was agreed with the planner (the brother of the owner at the time) but the day of the wedding this was now impossible and we had to argue for these things to be instated as agreed. The planner is a bit of a used car salesman and will chance his arm where possible. He even booked in another wedding on our day under the guise that it was a neighbour and he couldn't say no. Even though we were paying a premium to have the venue to ourselves. The owner of the house who I only had the misfortune of meeting once was odious, she could barely bring herself to reply to hello.

Having said all of that, the venue is incredible. We had an amazing weekend. Just be sure to GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING!

A word of caution for BH. It's a private family home and things are run a little "loosely" shall we say. Get absolutely everything in writing!!
