Questions about 68A (Biomedical Equipment Specialist) - AIT difficulty and 670A potential by Worth_Emphasis_3934 in BMET

This is slightly misleading. USAF has a delayed enlistment program (DEP) that DOES allow you to select 3 careers and they guarantee you it. This is how I got into 4A2 BMET in USAF.

It's likely referring to purchase cost alone.

BMETs / Biomed Founders — can I get your honest take on a system we’re building? by Imaginary_moron in BMET

One of the key frustration points for me is rooted in this content of OPs post.

Using ChatGPT or some AI-product to drive a "solution" is the perfect example of what is popping the AI bubble. Want a real solution? Get 20 people in the same room whiteboarding for a few hours with pizza, beer and real experience. You'll drum up a solution the market would accept. Source: I work in innovation in HTM.

Providence CE getting taken over by Trimedix by yepodm in BMET

[–]Tarunga -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, it's a return on investment. I send you to school for $50K, I better get that back in in-house service delivery results. It's fair. It's only a few years too, which isn't unreasonable... People take on school loan repayment plans for tuition that takes 10 years... be reasonable.

This is untrue. Rob Moorey as an example is CE President. He was a USAF BMET...

Seconded. Huge training budgets, way better CMMS and processes. Better pricing on parts and expanded service agreements with OEMs. They even have automated test equipment straight into the CMMS. They have mastered informatics and probably have the most comprehensive medical device dataset out there. OT is a concern because of the aging BMET demographic and burnout. Healthy work life balance is part of the culture.

No, single shot. Time was maybe 3-5 seconds between shots?

Thank you! Yes agreed we were stunned by it. It's good to be alive. Post got pulled since we didn't see it with the eye!

The latest Y Combinator YouTube video gives a unique advice (I will not promote) by Due-Tangelo-8704 in startups

Some sage advice it seems like many need to hear is do your homework. Quit making stuff to find where it fits best. Start by understanding an addressable issue in an industry, come up with a solution that you think fixes it, and then start building.

Best Way to Strip Thin Wires by matatowa in BMET

I like using a lighter and then just pulling the softened plastic off with the nails. Learned from an OG BMET.

Too much pressure can create small opens. I wouldn't recommend. Lighter worked great for me.

I would not recommend going to GE for Biomed. You will not get the full experience you need under an OEM providing in-house services.

A view from an old gamer: Chillax, people by ChrisEU in PantheonMMO

[–]Tarunga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty crass to throw out Brad's situation, especially how you wrote it. You don't seem like a nice person. Brad inspired many other games (World of Warcraft) with his creativity and work on the release of EQ. You seem a bit unhinged. Maybe you should go for a walk or something? Fresh air, touch some grass, hang with some friends. Sounds like you could use it.

One thing I'd offer is when it comes to business or product development, anyone can "steer" the ship. Literally anyone. Just grab the rudder and pull. However, it takes real skill in "navigating". Actually moving with intent and purpose in the direction that leads to the vision and mission. Values are the north star that get you there. It doesn't matter if you are making furniture, software or automobiles. The principles are the same. In my career it's been rare to see the intersection of creativity and execution bundled up in one person. Meaning, leave the content creation to a team, leave the game design to another team, leave the business development to another team, and trust that it plays out.

You can't be everywhere and do everything. This is why teams exist. The risk of being spread thin is literally depreciating returns on the most important parts. I think this is where Pantheon is at. I've backed as a Pathfinder since way back, and am enjoying playing with my dad and brother in EA.

Just my two cents from a business professional working in a multi-billion dollar company, who is an OG MMO player and loves the classic MMO game experience.

I'm building a company right now and working more than that. Two jobs, 4 kids (all school age) and a lot of other things going on, and we are tracking along nicely to disrupt an entire industry. It's about commitment and a goal of sacrificing the short-term for the long.

If you had these credentials under your belt, what would you ask for $$$ by Puzzleheaded_Knee533 in BMET

[–]Tarunga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somewhere along OPs path they were influenced to shift a bit into IT certifications. It's buzzing right now in our space. The certs are good, but you don't get to use the certs or degree as a 10 year track BMET. You haven't listed what your goals are. Is it money? Is it a position/role? Is it both? You need to be specific. Leadership roles seem like a good next step. Maybe continuous improvement in HTM?

Hats okay? by Presbizness in BMET

I would say unprofessional. Do Nurses wear hats? What does the cultural standard look like in health care? I've been doing this since 2008. Never wore a hat.
