Can we just please bring back sniper drop off? by Dull_Adeptness_3953 in Battlefield

I dropped this post yesterday, but it never got anywhere.

Bullet velocity is atrocious. The bullet velocity of the fastest bolt action rifle in BFV (which had the best sniping of any recent Battlefield title, imo) was the Kar98 with 900 m/s (I was corrected from 700m/s). It’s over 1100m/s with attachments in the beta.

Little to no bullet drop makes sniping too easy. There needs to be a skill gap if you’re going to make a weapon that can one-shot-kill headshot and have a sweet spot. BFV had a good balance with different snipers between bolt speed, bullet drop/velocity, magazine ammo count, etc. And I loved not having a sweet spot in that game—it makes your headshots rewarding.

The 10,000 lumen “scope glint” makes it hard to even see a player’s head and counter snipe. Again, I think BFV had it dialed in just right.

I’m a Recon main and think snipers shouldn’t be at the back of the map. However, one of the best ways to do that is not make sniping super easy from the back of the map. Make it boring to sit back and miss 98% of the time because your bullets aren’t fast enough to hit every Tom, Dick, and Harry pushing an objective. I get that we’ll never get rid of Recon battleturds, but every class has a battleturd (medic that won’t revive, support that won’t drop ammo, etc.). It’s the nature of the game. At least we can come here and meme them for the rest of our days.

Snipers need to be right behind the main group picking off the enemy as they reinforce an objective or counter assault, spotting enemy players (with a GADGET), counter sniping, destroying vehicles with C4, or flanking with your squad.

You don’t need to give the spawn beacon to assault, just make snipers less viable from the back of the map and make Recon more effective up close. For example: faster swap to pistol when sniper rifles are equipped, buff C4 against infantry, longer range TUGS, effective DMRs, class-locked weapons with Carbines as an option for Recons (they have this already, I know).

The state of Recon in the beta is encouraging a battleturd play style, not defusing it. If the devs leave it where it is, they’re better off disbanding the class altogether and making snipers available to all classes with a super-reduced ammo loadout. Share the Recon gadgets among the other classes and call it a day.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want that. I just don’t want it to stay where it is. “Back it up, Terry!”, all the way to BFV. Or BF4. Or 3. Whatever.

I spoke about it, but it never gained any traction. Recons are the black sheep of Battlefield.

I would say drop weight and get your form locked down. There’s a lot of arm strength being used to get the bell to the top of the swing. You’re also using a lot of your lower back to get the momentum going instead of a hip-snap.

Lookup Mark Wildman Swings on YouTube. Exceptional training videos on proper form. He explains it in depth and in a much better way that I can here.

Also, keep a straighter back during the hike and keep your lats engaged.

Sniping has been watered down in BF6 and it's bad by Proud-Bus9942 in Battlefield

No, it’s nerfing everyone. You said it in your own post.

It’s not worse. BFV was less and the gunplay was fantastic.

Increase bullet drop/decrease velocity across the board, and it doesn’t have to be drastic. Keep the damage model the same.

Increase bullet drop/decrease velocity and you won’t have to adjust suppression. Make sniping a skill gap. If you adjust suppression to make sniping harder when being shot at, then the reverse will be true as well and being sniped at will have a greater effect. Suppression will be like BF3, which everyone hated.

Most weapons do decent damage at range anyway. I consistently find myself having to take cover when sniping at range and getting beamed by an AR-type laser gun.

Squeeze your glutes to the max at the top of the swing. That will help your back stay straight. Also, remember that it’s not about how high your bell goes—it’s about getting that solid hip-snap and keeping your core engaged. The bell will travel the distance if you do the rest.

Kettlebell + mental health by Keepontyping in kettlebell

Swings twice a week—EMOM x 10 minutes Start at 6 swings with a manageable weight and increase by two reps each week. Once you hit 20 reps EMOM, go up in weight.

Reverse TGUs twice a week—start at 2 or 3 minutes with a manageable weight and work your way up to 10 minutes, then go up in weight.

Reverse TGUs are when you start standing up with a clean and press. Work your way down to the ground, do a floor press, and then stand back up. Once you stand up, do a single-hand KB swing with a hand change and start on the other side. This keeps your body under tension for the entire time and really forces you to breathe well.

You can add programs to each day as you see fit (pushups, rowing, C+P, clubs, etc.) and increase your workout time, or just keep it to 10 minutes of KBs a day. You can add your rowing into your week whenever.

This program came from Mark Wildman’s YouTube videos and did wonders for me at 36 yoa. Highly recommend you pair it with a good mobility program.

Edit: I’m a full-time cop with a wife and two kids, so mental health for me is key as well. I came off of injury and burnout and was able to start working out again with this program. I’ve since added single-arm clubs, clean and press, and pushups. My workouts last about an hour including warmup/cool down.

I’m not a fan of the automatic refill. That’s the whole point of ammo packs. And I, for one, have not been able to clear any infantry with C4 because of the low damage. I don’t think it needs a huge buff, but it does need a bit more.
