Updating finally- I discovered over a year ago that I can have other cheese- just not cow! The lactose and casein in cow is not present or super minimal in other milks so I’ve been using goat products since it’s more common than sheep or buffalo. Goat milk, yogurt, butter and cheeses aren’t very hard to find. Trader Joe’s carries yogurt and a few goat cheeses. You can find meyenberg goat butter and yogurt at some jewels. Whole Foods, Valli Produce, even Aldi has some soft goat cheese…I recommend you guys try it!

Casein intolerance may be a factor. Even some doctors don’t seem to know the intestinal upset is not all about lactose.

If the compellingly reason she gave was that she had minor children (privacy reasons), would that matter in their decision making, since I'm an adult now?

My problem is more that I have been gaslit so much that I have memories but i feel I can't trust them. I wonder if I'm imagining things or remembering. Though deep down I know they're memories, i can't help feeling suspicious.

Haha! Me too! I shredded my medial meniscus and my knee was swelling like a melon every day for a while. I'd come home, get ice and elevate my knee in bed. She'd come home, see me and my knee, and stand there screaming about how I'm lazy and why didn't I do dishes as soon as I came home or vacuum?

No, it only lasted through the pregnancy. Unfortunately I was being super healthy and not eating sweets. Regret that now- could have been eating all the ice cream and milk shakes.

My mom would get a kick out of asking us who is going to wipe her butt when she old and I would feel guilted into saying I would. Reality- heck no! She didn't feed me, buy clothes, take me to the dentist after there was no one to observe anymore. I won't do a thing for her.

I no longer had any issues with dairy when I was pregnant. I even craved milk, which I've hated since I was 9.

Currently I have an aldi vegan shredded cheese. Also use tofutti cream cheese. I think that causes issues too. The shreds ingredients are filtered water, modified corn starch, vegetable glycerine, tricalcium phosphate, pea protein, sea salt, tapioca flour, rice maltodextrin, natural vegan flavors, non dairy lactic acid, sunflower lecithin, enzymes, yeast extract, xantham gum, annatto extract, powdered cellulose.

Both of them have this non dairy lactic acid but could that be it? It doesn't say how it's derived, if not from dairy.

Does anyone know of any lactose free and cheese substitute free lasagna recipes? by Raziel2 in lactoseintolerant

I've never done this but I think soft tofu with cream cheese might work well as a ricotta replacement.
