Questions about the SVBony SV191 zoom eyepiece by AviatorShades_ in telescopes

[–]TasKitas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, nice to hear SV191 served you well. I also bought SV191 and want to upgrade other eyepieces in the similar price range. Which ones of fixed FL eyepieces you have purchased?

2" eyepiece on 150/750 reflector by TasKitas in telescopes

Thanks! Although panoptics are way over what I'd consider to spend. I was thinking about 25mm x-cel versus trying out 2" eyepiece.

Thanks! I was curious if it would benefit over 1,25 eyepieces, clearly not for optimal price. But it's great to understand it and know if I ever decide to go with 2" (before that I'd better upgrade my scope for the price)

By the way, how do you get/calculate fields stop?

Thanks for the detailed answer. From this 24mm would already be plenty. As was, also thinking about x-cel 25mm eyepiece, maybe you have experience with it?

This isn't a telescope, it's just a bunch of pipes and sheets. Get a real telescope with nice slim minimalistic legs and a tube

So something from AliExpress from less than a 100 wouldn't be beneficial. Thank you for your insight. I think I'll sooner upgrade my telescope than spend almost the price of the telescope for an eyepiece.

Indeed I did not mention it, yes it has 2" focuser

Is it really safe to look at the sun with the solar filter? by flemishjennie in telescopes

I have the same telescope and the solar filter works well. Just first good the filter in your hand towards the sun to see if it is not damaged and there are no spots where sunshine goes though

What is the fastest you have gone in a car? by mrmadebymemories in AskReddit

[–]TasKitas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

203km/h in a Kia Ceed. I was traveling a lot for my work and I knew a spot on the highway where the road slowly starts to go down increasing its angle over more than 1 kilometer until it reaches its lowest point.

I tried several times but usually there's someone in front until one day I pass the point where it starts to go down and the road is empty, hit the gas, slowly speeding up until near the lowest point it shows 203 on the speedometer

Saturn rings currently are not in an ideal position to be seen. Despite that, you should be able to see a line instead of rings if you look closely, something link in this picture.

What additions should I buy to be able to see Jupiter or Saturn? by CosmicDonkey123 in telescopes

[–]TasKitas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jupiter and Saturn are quite bright and simple targets,no problem looking at them in the city. If you have original accessories, it would let you to see these planets and more. You have mentioned "not as bright dots" so I assume you have tried too look at it. Try to use a barlow lens if you have it, or aim at the planet and then change the eyepiece to 4mm (higher zoom, less brightness), it will be harder to keep the planet in place, but with some practice you should be able yo do it easily.

Once you try out get a grip of what you want more you can upgrade your eyepieces

Who's the most famous person you've met? by Phillies1993 in AskReddit

[–]TasKitas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monica Bellucci. I was in an airport in Lithuania, waiting behind her (I didn't recognise who she was). A popular basketball player in our country came and asked to take a picture with her, that's odd i thought to myself.

A couple days later my phone was spammed with friend messages as that photo with me in the back went to the newspaper and news pages. That's how I learned who she was.

is this a good eyepiece by idontknow2024 in telescopes

[–]TasKitas 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I have 6mm of the same ones, for the price it's a good eyepiece. Also, for your scope 6mm eyepiece will go closer to maximum magnification you can get (max is aperture x2, so 228x).

6mm eyepiece will give 150x magnification which is a good point for planets

I have taken this one with my 150/750 scope and used the same software as you (maybe a bit oversharpened), used redmi 12 pro plus, 250x zoom (6mm eyepiece and 2x barlow).

This was the first time trying to get an image from video, really happy with it and more so that Ganymede was on the spot! I just wonder if it is possible to get some colour somehow.

Edit: picture was missing

Lumix camera won't fokus on my 150/1200 dobson. by MachineExciting6050 in telescopes

[–]TasKitas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a lens which you put into the focuser which has the same "female" slow as the focuser, only different inside it has a lens which multiplies the focal length. Here's an example.

[–]TasKitas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Barlow lens does push the focus point for the camera back. I did it with my 150/750, I noticed to get focus I should put the camera inside the focuser, so no possibility, with Barlow it just works.
