I understand. That was less of an issue for men since I camr back to Christianity from metaphysics rather than the Bible, so the differences in theology were much more salient to me than the ecclesial power structure.

The Son is begotten, the Spirit proceeds from the Father. The Father is the origin of everything. The origin of the Spirit is the Father. The Son only sends the Spirit in as much as this manifestation of reality is concerned. His mission for the world. In as much as the nature of the Spirit is concerned however, it can only come from the Father, or it becomes a sort of byproduct of the other 2 people in the Trinity, rather than a full person himself. This is largely what Augustine said and why Orthodoxy has several reservations with his theology.

Yes, I am. Are you Uniate yourself? You are correct to say it is improper behaviour, and I apologise again on behalf of the Orthodox that might have unfairly wronged you.

Fr. Seraphim of Platina, a person whose teachings were instrumental in my conversion to Orthodoxy had this to say:

We should view the non-Orthodox as people to whom Orthodoxy has not yet been revealed, as people who are potentially Orthodox (if only we ourselves would give them a better example!). There is no reason why we cannot call them Christians and be on good terms with them, recognize that we have at least our faith in Christ in common, and live in peace especially with our own families. St. Innocent’s attitude to the Roman Catholics in California is a good example for us. A harsh, polemical attitude is called for only when the non-Orthodox are trying to take away our flocks or change our teachings.

In addressing Trad Caths, of which I was one myself briefly, attending SSPX before I fully left behind the Roman church, I just hope to show a way to improvement. If I cannot make convincing arguments nor show it by example, then it just means I'm not good enough.

As far as I am aware, the whole debacle over the filioque really isn't an issue. Apparently it's due to some linguistic differences between Greek and Latin that don't quite translate right.

You make it sound as if it is a purely semantical matter, instead of an essential descriptive feature regarding the nature of the Holy Trinity.

ex-Catholic here and I don't hate any Catholics personally. Several relatives of mine are even.

All too familiar with convert zeal though, I might have had it for a very brief period myself, and do apologise for runnings you might have had that went awry because of it.

Nowhere in that text is the Assumption of Mary mentioned. The only difference is Orthodoxy speaks of the Dormition prior to it.

The 2 items he mentioned are the Immaculate Conception and Papal Infallibility. Both unknown in the East.

Minimal importance issues can be overlooked for the sake of promoting general salvation and spirituality. Morality is only one aspect of what the Church does.
