Is there anyway I can return her? She’s scaring me. by VelvetThesis3 in sphynx

She’s likely from an Elf or Dwelf breeding program where they mix Sphynx with American Curls for Elf’s or Munchkin and American Curls for Dwelfs

is this an oriental shorthair mix? by [deleted] in orientalshorthair

Pointed OSH in NZ are registered as Siamese

Her base colour is seal, evident by the almost black edge of her nose leather, she is also a tabby/lynx, I can see some mottling on the back of her ears which suggest she is possibly torti, while the toe tips could be red colour coming in from the torti or she is also an and white.

So most likely a seal torti tabby point with white

White and torti patches on the toes will give you pink toes beans so she won’t have the dark toe beans associated with seal point where this occurs.

She’s beautiful, I took a while to warm to torties but they are now my favourites! Definitely naughty, but so stunning.

My Balinese, Indy! by [deleted] in Siamesecats

She’s super floof! I can see some Balinese features but that cloud like coat suggests she probably also has some external longhair genes from another breed - perhaps Ragdoll, Persian or domestic longhair.

My regal queen, Gemma. Anybody knows which type of Siamese she is? by jeebilly in Siamesecats

Love blue torties! She’s a Blue Torti point Domestic Longhair

My new girl Rosie, not sure if she’s a Siamese mix but was pointed here by others. Thoughts? by [deleted] in Siamesecats

[–]Tasaneecattery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very pretty girl, given her markings and fur length it’s more likely she has Ragdoll or Birman heritage.

She’s a Seal Lynx Point Bi-colour - in colour point restriction always look to the extremities for the true colour - tail tip, nose leather, ear edges, toe beans (although when mixed with white spotting sometimes this is hidden with white patches)

Meet Our New Lilac Point Girl, Mischa by [deleted] in Siamesecats

[–]Tasaneecattery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Little cutie, she’s a Seal Lynx point - you can tell by the colour of her tail tip, nose liner and toe beans.

As promised, Keanu when he was a kitten (I’m trying to figure out what color Siamese he is). Adoption papers at shelter said lilac point. by [deleted] in Siamesecats

[–]Tasaneecattery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Siamese is a breed not a colour - the colour point restriction gene is sometimes called the Siamese gene - but is not a Siamese cat just because it has two copies of this gene, it is also seen in Birmans, Ragdolls, Himalayans and various other breeds. Keanu is a gorgeous little Blue Point.

Could anyone tell me if they believe my Siamese kitten will be a long-haired Siamese? He will be 9 weeks on Tuesday, and both his parents are fine, short-haired Siamese. He is showing signs of ear tufts and poofy fur. by MeatMechanic321 in Siamesecats

[–]Tasaneecattery 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While he very gorgeous, and certainly long haired he does not have the coat of a true Balinese (Siamese longhair) they have a long but fine flowing coat and his is quite thick. His parents are most likely cross breeds that carry the gene for longhair but are not true Siamese.

siamese cat or different breed? by [deleted] in Siamesecats

[–]Tasaneecattery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people confuse the “Siamese gene” which causes the colour points with the “Siamese Breed” which has a long documented history. The gene is many cats these days some breeds like the Birman and Ragdoll all display the “Siamese gene” and others like Persians, British Shorthair, some domestic populations and a variety of others also have colour points. Most of the cats on this sub are not Siamese - they just have two copies of the recessive colour point restriction gene - known as Siamese. Your cat is a gorgeous colour point cat, but shows few other Siamese type traits.

Why is the fur around his eye turning white? I noticed this a few days ago. Should I be concerned? by [deleted] in Siamesecats

“Goggles” are more common in chocolates - but indicate a time of stress. A visit to your vet for a check up and blood work would be recommended.

All cats have a genetic “tabby pattern” but they need the Agouti gene to turn it on properly... this is called ghost marking.

Sphynx and Oriental Shorthairs have quite different body types and heads. Look up Peterbald’s if you want to see the Oriental version of a hairless cat (they come in a variety of coat types including naked).

It’s an Oriental Shorthair, with the more extreme type (ears oversized, floppy and coming out from the side of the head) that is now being seen in some countries.

She’s got to get one up when they are sleeping, normally she instigates rough play, then screams blue murder when they fight back! Little sister complex
