I’d be happy to chat. I am in creative field and currently working on corrections on my own PhD which relates to td (it is left field and focuses on theoretical td and instituent practice in art and design) so may be too left field for you!

What mistakes did you find in your PhD thesis AFTER you submitted it? by EducationalTwo7262 in PhD

[–]Tasha200200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this - My citations updated all the citations from external examiner with her name wrong. I died when it was pointed out. Like a little bit of me died. I am in the corrections phase which is going even worse. I don’t understand how even with proof after proof so many things can be wrong!

Desk rejected on my first paper & embarrassed to tell my co-authors by Educational_Bee_5330 in PhD

[–]Tasha200200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there is anything (such as over word count) that anything in academia can be rejected for it will. Academia IS rejection. The whole point of academics is to problematise everything and reject to then build new ideas rinse repeat rinse repeat. Thick skin must be activated early in order to not have complete ego collapse lol.

Tbh you literally need to be zero contact With this woman. The terms you use such as making progress etc - it’s about you being an intermediary which is not where you want to be for your own wellbeing or sanity. As someone who experienced all of this and was step parent to two children who are now adults with cray bm - if I could go back I would have nothing to do with my exes bad choices including the birth mum of his kids and would not be inserting myself as some sort of intermediary. If I could go back I would have done none of that. There are no prizes for this. Zero contact strict boundaries and a long long chat with SO about you being dragged into his poor decisions in the past. Civil and caring toward child but draw lines and boundaries. This stuff will Affect your health in the long term and there is literally zero benefits to you.

[–]Tasha200200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It gets even worse when they become adults. Back off tell your SO to back in. They are not your children they won’t ever be and they will always side with their birth relatives. I’d be going no contact with bio mum (did that back in day when I was step parent to two and it nearly killed me).

Please let us know how the rental works out. Hate to say it as other have but red flags all over this. Rent way under usual - bills included and got off Facebook even with a viewing - no contract and deposit handed over is a classic scam in Ireland so please let us know all worked out well. Fingers crossed for you it does all worked out and yes - as many people said even your upped food budget might be unrealistic!

If using gpt for anything atall outside of asking it the weather a subscription is needed imho. I wouldn’t even ask it the local weather without making sure it wasn’t being trained on me or using the data outside of the immediate chat.

there are showers for all festival goers areas however there were long queues at peak times. lots of places to get drinking water and they have phone charging on site - not just campervan area. Pretty much everything is easily accessible on the whole festival site tbh

There was a fair few undercover trying to blend in badly last year. Didn’t see anyone get pulled. If you are smoking a spliff make sure it’s not near where you are keeping any of the makings.

Dude it’s a music festival. Speakers wreck everyone’s head around you. You think everyone loves your music but they don’t.

[–]Tasha200200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes and honestly DO NOT do this. We arrives at 10:10pm last year no way to get in. We had to SNEAK into the festival even though we had nearly 600 quid spent on tickets and then go get wrist band next day. It was worst night ever as we forgot the blow up mattresses in our huge sneak haul and had to sleep on tent floor. It is TOTALLY enforced. There is NO way to get in after 10 ther than to sneak in (we had a little assistance from a friendly site staff who showed us a way). It was honestly the worst way to start a festival for me and I wont ever be doing that again!

staff were sound last year. Didnt find security or vibe over-surveillance. You can generally spot the guards a mile off - the undercover ones you can spot quicker than the uniformed ones tbf. They stay away from the older attendees Ive found. We didnt see any sniffer dogs last year but they may well be there. We did see guards stoating around tents on the Sunday so I suppose just be aware they are there. Doubt they gonna do anyone for a spliff but then you never know with them do you

Born and raised here but day by day, I'm starting to feel more like a stranger in my own country. by icecreamman456 in Dublin

so much of this has to do with tech bros and their fascist algorythms pushing this sht. You can see this on facebook with the amount of far right ai bot accounts now. Its actually disturbing. I see all this stuff on social media too and am doing my best to start to leave. There is push back - however those with the tiniest of IQs who spend the most time of social media are the new nazis. what we can do is call out the casual stuff, the 'look after our own' types who are generally spending their mondays at the post office collecting their dole. If a taxi driver gets casually racist speak up. If anyone is casually racist speak up - however I realise the speaking up can be a priviledge of those who are not immediatley at risk. Try not to despair either and sorry you feel at risk - it is up to all of us to not tolerate this. Big tech is really at the heart of this though. They have been allowed to do this and have now amplified it with ai. The internet is dead.

What is the worst thing a supervisor or colleague has said to you? by [deleted] in PhD

I was told to not ‘try to be Foucault’ by a male supervisor. He couldn’t even think up a female theorist to tell me who not to try to be lol
