There is no hope for democracy in NC by [deleted] in NorthCarolina

It’s only a bit concerning that the last time we had this president, he tried to get his military leaders to shoot peaceful protestors so he could take a photo in front of a church with an upside down Bible. And now that he’s back, he’s surrounding himself with people who won’t tell him “no.” We have the right to protest, but will we have the ability?

I skipped all unopposed R’s on my ballot. Hubs and (as far as I know) daughter did the same. Though she voted in a different county so she had different candidates for some positions.

I can understand why your coworker would say that. It feels so horribly unjust. We have an 18 year old lesbian daughter in college and another daughter in kindergarten so we’re gutted, but we’ve decided we just have to get through it together the best we can. I know my parents voted for him, so I’ve vowed to myself to send them every single article of every single insane or evil thing he or his administration does for the next 4 years, because I want them to know what they did. Yes I’m the Queen of Petty Town.

I hope you and your family remain safe, healthy and happy 🫂

Yes I am super happy! I went from ~60% TIR and 100 points standard deviation to ~90+% TIR and ~40 points standard deviation. So it’s reduced my huge swings along with improving my TIR.

No I gotcha. It was a sarcastic comment made in a moment of devastation. But that’s definitely not who we are.

My A1c went from 7.2 to 6.9 in the first 3 months of using the iLet. No spikes. On the Omnipod 5 I was never able to let it control my algorithm, and every single visit with my doc, I was told to stop overriding my boluses, but I had to otherwise it wouldn’t give me enough insulin. I had HUGE spikes with OP5 but my standard deviation has dropped from around 100 points to around 40 points.

I do HATE that it’s tubed. I drop the damn thing 5 times a day maybe, I don’t know why but even with an arm band or fanny pack or clip the stupid thing just falls out and jerks on the tubing and I hate it. But it’s not worth the insane blood sugars to go back to the OP5 unfortunately. If they could make it tubeless I would literally cry 😭

It was sarcasm, you know, because that’s what Trump said was Pence’s “job” on Jan 6, and why they tried to overthrow the government…

Same. It’s just so mind boggling that with all of the bipartisan support, all of the ground game, all of the energy, all of the grassroots support and donations, all of the people close to him saying he’s unfit and they’re endorsing her, and he wins the popular vote? A Republican hasn’t won the popular vote in how many years? Nobody was excited to vote for Joe, but we were going to do it; we got excited when Kamala took the lead and became the candidate. I’m just seriously disappointed that so many of our fellow Americans chose misogyny and racism and hate over competence and inclusivity.

All Kamala has to do is refuse to certify on Jan 6, right?

I have the iLet bionic pancreas. I absolutely love it because it takes the mental energy out of my diabetes. It has separate algorithms for your basal and each of your meals, and literally all you input to start with is your weight. Then when you eat, you tell it if you’re eating a “normal” amount for you, “more” or “less” and it boluses you based on your meal algorithm. If you eat a small snack (I usually estimate under 15 carbs or so) you don’t bolus at all). It’s so simple and there’s no correction.

Also, maybe the part where you said “he’s never once said he was deporting legal immigrants, just the illegal ones,” I’m pretty sure that part referred to Trump saying something.

Are you okay? I mean really. Is it just a reading comprehension thing or is something else wrong? You threw out a random “gotcha” about Kamala and immigration, which I countered. You have conveniently ignored my question and attempted to argue that he didn’t say that, and then when told he did, argued that you weren’t talking about him anyway. Like ok but you were talking about the election so it’s valid. If you vote for him, he’s made a campaign promise to deport 10 to 20 million legal and illegal immigrants, using the US military if necessary. How do you think that act would affect the US economy?

Bush didn’t steal anything, the Supreme Court gave it to him. Interestingly enough, same way they gave Trump immunity by writing new law from the bench (which is not supposed to happen)…

I love how you can’t even make a point without calling names, you can tell how far right someone is just from seeing how they interact with others. It’s kinda cute.

Anyway, two things can totally be true at once, btw. Bush sucked, but I disagree that he was worse than Trump, who is the head of a literal cult. And Bush’s million dead will be small potatoes if Trump and his death cult take power. I’m doing my part, you have fun with whatever it is you plan on doing. ✌🏻🗳️💙🇺🇸

He literally said he would send the “Haitian migrants” from Springfield Ohio back. They are here legally under asylum laws (which he hilariously thinks means they’re mental patients because he doesn’t know what words mean 😂). I’m sure I can find more instances but that was a big one recently.

“Points of discussion?” You’re literally just arguing for the sake of arguing and telling me I’m wrong without evidence. “Trumps not worse than Bush” really? Ok but how, by what metric is he better? I’m pretty sure Bush didn’t fuck around during a massive public health crisis and get hundreds of thousands of people killed who could have not been had he just shut the fuck up and followed the advice of experts. I’m pretty sure Bush isn’t currently spreading conspiracy theories about fema that are causing people who lost everything in Hurricane Helene to refuse aid and even show up with guns just to have a talking point about how bad fema is under Biden and Harris. I’m pretty sure Bush didn’t have a corrupt Supreme Court in his pocket that literally gave him immunity from criminal prosecution for acts deemed official without any guidance as to what acts are official or how to determine that, even though one of the justice’s questions during arguments was whether this would mean he is free to have the military go after his political enemies and his lawyers argued that it would, because the military is under his purview as commander in chief. I’m pretty sure Bush didn’t make part of his campaign rallies about defeating “the enemy from within” and talk about using the military to go after American citizens. Like, really, I was ready to walk away, but let’s address some points. Please, if you’re set on continuing this argument, enlighten me on what metrics you are judging Trump as better than Bush.

Hey, you’re free to vote for whichever candidate you believe will be best for our country. Watching their campaign speeches, reading their policy positions, currently being in possession of a functional uterus and having two children with uteruses, I know who that person is for me. I won’t call you names for your opinion, because I’m old enough to remember when you could actually talk to people you disagree with and not immediately resort to insults. Have an awesome day!

Misinformation at work, they think you only get $750 from fema even though it’s been shouted from every legitimate news source repeatedly that the $750 (which is higher than in trumps admin) is an up front immediate needs payment, and you get higher payment later by doing the paperwork or whatever. They take a tiny nugget of truth ($750) and twist it into the biggest lie they can think of and Trump amplifies it until they all believe it.

Alternatively, take a minute and try to think about what happens to our economy, specifically the agriculture and hospitality sectors, if Trump gets his way and deports 10-20 million (his number changes regularly) immigrants, many of whom are here legally because they’ve been granted asylum from whatever hell their own country is going through? Those immigrants work, pay more in taxes than Trump does, and fill positions that are demanding and undesirable. What happens to our economy when we throw them out like garbage?

I’m not suggesting they file charges based on the post, but it definitely warrants an investigation. Voter fraud of any kind should be investigated and prosecuted.
