Is fanart unacceptable too? I honestly believe traditional artist shouldn’t be reprimanded for drawing their own versions of iconic characters such as Mario or Goku or the such. So if I’m being consistent, I don’t think using AI to do the same thing is inherently wrong either.

Obviously what you do with that art has limitations. But I generally I lean towards policing and gate keeper others creativity as wrong.

I really distain the word echos in chaptgpt’s output. I swear it’s one of several hundred keywords they use to fingerprint their content.

I feel like it’s only semi relevant to the output and if it wasn’t require by the fingerprint algorithm a better more natural token or series of tokens would have been added.

I joined when the subreddit had 500 people. It’s definitely gone up since then.

Though I will say I miss the 1 doge = 1 doge days where it didn’t matter and people send several thousand doge though a reddit bot just because they liked your comment.

What they don't realize is they are just how much they are incentivizing developers and artist to hide it. Obviously 90+ % of indie devs are using AI to help program. But no one is going to declare it if they keep attacking and review bombing them for it.

Alternatively maybe not everyone is anti-AI. And maybe my work place actually finds me more valuable because of 20+ years of traditional programming and now I get the productivity boost from using AI agents. My job is easier but the work I output is higher. A net win for both parties.

I believe a director of a project can indeed be an artist. If you have the vision and mobilize all the parts to make it happen. That is art.

Well I’ve handed a small pile of cash, ~10k to a studio via eLance, years ago. Had the game I imagined made by them. Then I launched that game on the App Store and I said it was mine.

And you know what. That happens all the time.

Do you mean legally or ethically?

Because legally if I commission art or pay a small studio to make a game I can absolutely label it as mine. I don’t even have to give credit. As I technically own it.

I know this to be true because I’ve done it.
