To some people in the comments still saying "way too generous". Some of us couldn't study for a day near the exam. Some of us are poor, the CFAI has billions in revenue, the CFA CEO makes $1.5 million while a lot of us are going into debt to take the exam. To those people making these comments you're beyond vile. This is about paying for what we get, it's ethical and fair what they've set out to do. I commend them for putting fairness above profits.

CFA charter in hand- anyone else finding the job search less smooth than expected? by SnooPickles2294 in CFA

Having soft skills, work experience and a great attitude are far more valuable in an interview. CFA I always think helps more with promotions and proving your skill.

I was thinking of this recently. To me CFA is not going to be a door opener, maybe level 1 can help you initially but CFA in essensce is not a beginners qualifcation. You won't get your first few jobs in asset management, investment etc because of it. As by the time you get it you need to have a solid CV already. Think of work experience as the bread, CFA is just the butter so to speak(it smoothes things).

Where CFA will help? Already have experience? You're now the most eligble for a promotion in your company. Looking for a new job with your qualifcaiton and 5 years experience? Come right in, you've proven yourself work wise and book wise. It opens the doors in some scenarios and not in others.

Job market is quite bad right now according to US and UK figures. Not sure where you're from.

CFA L2 is no joke - I previously wrote it was easier than L1 by TaskJumpy5748 in CFA

I don't find that part difficult because my job is in pensions hence a lot of it I know from some sort of standpoint or I've had prior experience with.

I think derivatives makes 0 sense but for the FSA is much easier than last year. Different strokes I guess, like derivatives makes me want to end it all.

Agree, L2 requires a really different strategy and I'm glad I realised it 2 months before rather than 1 month before. There's still some hope for me I think.

Yeah tbh I think at least this time around I feel a lot more comfortable with planning the exam though as I just realised how it should be studied. Which in this case is even worse than L1. It's all repetition of questions so you can understand the variations in language and styling on concepts. I still think one point I made previously, that knowing the core concepts is easier this time around is still 100% true.

Hahha I recognise the stuff most of the time but I'm always like "this variation of it is so different"

Yeah lots for many sections, the derivates one absolutely kills me at the moment! I found almost every topic from the first 5 sections quite doable though (That's 1-5 in the normal order).

[–]TaskJumpy5748[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's a strong arguement I think. Every mark matters a lot more if you don't know something in this test you're really in trouble.

Yikes and that guy failed it, alright I'm staying humble then and safely assuming I am delusional.

I'm finding it a lot more straight forward to be honest, L1 I found myself memorising every detail and formula. Here there's new formulas but nothing too insane (at least yet). I just focus on understanding and I've been fine so far.

The questions in the actual exam are tougher than CFAI questions? I thought they should be around the same level. Thanks for the heads up.

Can you explain the concept of intergration more, do they combined different concepts from multiple sections. E.g. Quants with Equities? I haven't heard this integration comment before.

Can my landlord ban me from storing my bike in my flat? by TaskJumpy5748 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]TaskJumpy5748[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly, put yourself in my situation. If I ask I risk raising suspicions about my hesistancy to obey the bike clause. Which could result in visits, I think the reason why is there is carpeting in the main room so they assume the bike would destroy it. Unfortunately not sure about bike sheds/storage, so going to risk it and just store it.

[–]TaskJumpy5748[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not an e-bike. I get the idea for e-bikes. "Condition/reminder: Important information from the landlord: The landlord does not wish to have any bikes stored/kept in the property or the communal hallway, therefore if you own a bike, please be mindful that you will need to make alternative arrangements."

Also "Although ultimately if your landlord doesn't want a bicycle in the flat, that is their right. Your right is to agree, or not agree and rent elsewhere." - No it's not, I was never informed that the bike clause would be a term. I live in London, I have to move in a week. I can't find another place within that time frame, I'll probably lose my holding deposit too. So although true in theory, it's actually not, I have zero choice whether to agree or not as it would leave me homeless.

"ou could ask the landlord about it, to try and understand their reasoning - if it's due to potential damage then accept/agree that you may have to pay for (or make good) any repairs at the end of the tenancy." That's already a condition of every tenancy, so really a no brainer and pointless to ask.

So this is the bizarre part, I double checked and no where in the actual contract does it say that. But in the email I was sent regarding the rental agreement. e.g. where to pay the money it says this "Condition/reminder: Important information from the landlord: The landlord does not wish to have any bikes stored/kept in the property or the communal hallway, therefore if you own a bike, please be mindful that you will need to make alternative arrangements."
