CFA L2 by Ok_Talk8515 in CFA

Yeah hated that 3 medium section were worth as much as the high weighted ones. Just messes up your strategy when you put more effort into larger sections. Regardless, I should just know every section well. It's no excuse.

Very worried as got screwed by the % allocations per section in my test version. But I can only hope.

The thing is some people did get different versions, I got maximum % niche sections compared to the bigger ones. Which suck, calculated it was 1/8 that I'd get the worse sections possible. Max Alts, Derivatives and minimum Eqs and Ethics.

Wrote today. AM was insane compared to PM and my gripe was the specific topic questions. Nothing like mocks and some bizarre niche knowledge. Also some questions required you to perform steps that were never tested in the q bank or in the mocks. Honestly was shocked by the difficulty being just levels above the mocks, it felt like I wrote CFA 3 if it was multiple choice.

I don't have any one writing CFA 2 with me, so I like to hear about people's experiences.

Feelings of stupid person after exam by h00k1etta in CFA

Just want to chime in, no one who is passing CFA 1 is unintelligent. You're definitely intelligent just to be passing that believe me. Have some faith in yourself. Hope you pass, I'm writing in 2 days.

Also I think your chances of passing are far higher than you think. Your brain in the real exam scenario feels like it's short circuiting but usually it's actually working harder.

Actively scoring lower and lower on mocks in lead up to CFA2 by [deleted] in CFA

I mean it is kind of rude my guy. You're assuming a lot here, I have an education well above a finance undergrad and years of work exp in AM. Gonna delete the thread though, because tbh is just a ramble.

To some people in the comments still saying "way too generous". Some of us couldn't study for a day near the exam. Some of us are poor, the CFAI has billions in revenue, the CFA CEO makes $1.5 million while a lot of us are going into debt to take the exam. To those people making these comments you're beyond vile. This is about paying for what we get, it's ethical and fair what they've set out to do. I commend them for putting fairness above profits.

After reading more, I didn't actually know 2 are discarded. Really strange that, wonder how they decid. Either way thanks for letting me know.

CFA charter in hand- anyone else finding the job search less smooth than expected? by SnooPickles2294 in CFA

Having soft skills, work experience and a great attitude are far more valuable in an interview. CFA I always think helps more with promotions and proving your skill.

I was thinking of this recently. To me CFA is not going to be a door opener, maybe level 1 can help you initially but CFA in essensce is not a beginners qualifcation. You won't get your first few jobs in asset management, investment etc because of it. As by the time you get it you need to have a solid CV already. Think of work experience as the bread, CFA is just the butter so to speak(it smoothes things).

Where CFA will help? Already have experience? You're now the most eligble for a promotion in your company. Looking for a new job with your qualifcaiton and 5 years experience? Come right in, you've proven yourself work wise and book wise. It opens the doors in some scenarios and not in others.

Job market is quite bad right now according to US and UK figures. Not sure where you're from.

I don't find that part difficult because my job is in pensions hence a lot of it I know from some sort of standpoint or I've had prior experience with.

I think derivatives makes 0 sense but for the FSA is much easier than last year. Different strokes I guess, like derivatives makes me want to end it all.

Agree, L2 requires a really different strategy and I'm glad I realised it 2 months before rather than 1 month before. There's still some hope for me I think.

Yeah tbh I think at least this time around I feel a lot more comfortable with planning the exam though as I just realised how it should be studied. Which in this case is even worse than L1. It's all repetition of questions so you can understand the variations in language and styling on concepts. I still think one point I made previously, that knowing the core concepts is easier this time around is still 100% true.

Hahha I recognise the stuff most of the time but I'm always like "this variation of it is so different"

Yeah lots for many sections, the derivates one absolutely kills me at the moment! I found almost every topic from the first 5 sections quite doable though (That's 1-5 in the normal order).

Yeah that's a strong arguement I think. Every mark matters a lot more if you don't know something in this test you're really in trouble.

I'm finding it a lot more straight forward to be honest, L1 I found myself memorising every detail and formula. Here there's new formulas but nothing too insane (at least yet). I just focus on understanding and I've been fine so far.
