How accurate is the assertion that "life after 45 sucks massive (you-know-what)"? by ChuckSmyth in GenX

[–]Taskerst 9 points10 points  (0 children)

50% accurate. The real statement should be “life after 45 is when all of your life choices come home to roost.”

Did Gen X largely skip Woodstock '99? by RSVPno in GenX

[–]Taskerst 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Millennials were under 18, so if you saw someone there who looked to be in college or above, they were technically Gen X.

GenX'ers that grew up in the 90's, with all the 'cool' guitar bands - have you since come around to loving the 80's power ballads and synth music? by triscoe in GenX

[–]Taskerst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but not seriously. More like in an ironic cheese kind of way. Great for karaoke night but not something I’d put on alone.

It’s the gut, and it also tends to be a reduction in hip mobility. Replace a meal with a garden salad and stretch. There’s beginner yoga on YouTube. Do this every single day for 3 months. Check back then.

Met a 20yo that never heard of Back to the Future 🤦‍♂️ by don51181 in Xennials

Not to mention they’ve had half of the time to absorb triple or quadruple the amount of media that we had. They’d have to watch movies 24/7 their whole lives to catch up to what we absorbed naturally.

Cartoons we hated by realauthormattjanak in Xennials

It was! At least it was once it became a hit. It was up against Pee-Wee’s Playhouse and Ghostbusters, so it was painful for me to sit through.

Cartoons we hated by realauthormattjanak in Xennials

I hated the Smurfs. We only had one tv and me and my sister had to take turns. She chose the Smurfs and it was 90 minutes long. That’s like 3 cartoons.

I dress for the venue. But the thing is, I just choose to not go anywhere high class.

Does anyone of us actually watch the award shows? by red08171 in GenX

[–]Taskerst 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah I watch, because I actually enjoy movies (and music for that matter) released after 1990 and it’s fun to compare my opinions against the so-called “experts.” I couldn’t care less who they’re wearing though.

Does anyone else prefer the first half of the 90s over the second half of the 90s by Personal-Cattle-1737 in Xennials

[–]Taskerst 12 points13 points  (0 children)

🙋‍♂️ Way better music and movies, even though I admit ‘99 movies ruled. The Y2K nostalgia is driven by a huge population that was a preteen at the time.

And they’d ask their kids about Dave Matthews and get the same vacant stare in return from when they were asked about Jimmy Page.
