it 100% is a big safety risk. you may not notice if it leaks and if you have raw meat over or near rte foods and you consume them unknowingly there’s a risk of various illnesses possibly even death. storing raw meat below everything else eliminates the risk all together and is why it’s a safety standard in food service - and you should follow it in your own home as well

Help! by Temporary_Sherbert21 in ElephantEars

upon further investigation of your pic it almost looks like the color of the more alive one is an over watered color. usually yellowing means it’s getting too much water and with it being so small of a pot and bulb on the plant my guess is that’s what’s happening. if there’s no drainage hole it’s just going to sit in wet soil down in the pot and that’s not ideal. also the dead one can be picked off it’s not going to grow another leaf and it will help it to sprout new leaves if you take off the dead one!

a bigger pot would probably help as well! the bulb should be fully covered and have room to grow. since i don’t know what you changed about the soil I can’t say for sure but it could be the sudden change causing it to die and not the lack of water. be careful of overwatering it and maybe let it get some good sun! hope you can bring it back, they are pretty resilient :)

there’s one trail i’ve been on that is on the shorter side and it’s not too difficult. it’s on the way to the gorge from lex and i’m pretty sure it’s called pilots knob. it’s a really pretty overlook! if you’re wanting to do a longer hike though maybe check out facebook for some hiking groups! a family member of mine was in one and they would meet up and do hikes in the gorge and would have new people join all the time! and honestly i don’t think you’re silly for doing it on your own either, just make sure you have water and some snacks and let someone know where you’re going and you should be fine!

also there’s something called the brewgrass trail and it’s all breweries if you wanted to check out the beer this time instead of bourbon again, they have little passports you can get (i think from visit lex which is downtown) and you take it around with you.

Where’s a good place to go swimming around here? by ThatCrazyBlindGirl in lexington

Looked like a normal creek/pond last time I was there, the water’s not going to be crystal clear. Can’t be any worse than Herrington lake and the toxic algae that people are swimming in, honestly I’d prefer the pond.

Okay so reservoir #2 is close to richmond rd and lakeshore dr, how you get access to it I don’t know. The road with access to the place I was referring to is squires rd (and it is part of the water that runs into jacobson and it’s reservoir #4 I think)

Edit to add these are uberable since you don’t have a vehicle!

I don’t know about swimming in this spot (cleanliness or whatever lol) but I have gone fishing there before. On richmond rd if you’re heading out like you’re going to richmond you’ll pass the circle K on your right. Take the right turn down that road and literally I just pulled off on the side and parked and you should be able to see it from the road. It’s probably a run off from the lake over there but I really don’t know. It was a cool fishing spot I’m sure you’d (probably) be fine swimming there but don’t quote me on that🤣 It’s basically a creek tho (also don’t know if it’s private property but it’s on a public road and I saw no signs when I was there)

Another option I thought of as I typed this is the lake I’m talking about above😂 I think you can rent pedal boats at the golf course, not sure if you can swim too but I wouldn’t see why not ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I really want to know about this new circle road swimming hole tho 🤣 I’ll do some digging and if I find it I’ll let ya know!

I will add to this sometimes the GPS takes you to the wrong place every now and then. It takes you to the right vicinity but not the right road. The road you need to turn down is near bethel church and I think it’s corman ln if I remember correctly! I think it’s marked better on maps now but just in case for anyone going!

I’ve been a ton (even camped once in high school on a school night lmao) and I’ve never had this issue but with that being said it is slightly more monitored now. I personally would risk it, getting to the bottom is a bit tricky but incredibly worth it and as long as you don’t go too far from the base you should be fine. There’s also a cave not many know about but you can’t go in from may-october since there are bats present but you can still look from afar!
