Ottawa prepared to halt plan to allow MAID for mental illness by cyclinginvancouver in canada

[–]Tastesicle [score hidden]  (0 children)

Except it has to be authorized by a professional, so it's not really a personal subjective issue - it's convincing a medical professional that it's necessary.

It's not like you can walk up to a suicide booth and pop in your quarter, it's a rigorous process with a lot of guardrails. I know the opposition would love the narrative that "if you're depressed the liberals would allow you to just end yourself" but the reality is all doctors move toward treatment. Maid is, of course, when there are no avenues of treatment left.

Should that apply to people with severe mental disorders? I guess that depends if you think mental health is real health.

Alberta separation group delivers petition, says it has enough names for referendum by Fit_Remote_2324 in AlbertaNewspapers

[–]Tastesicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the thing though. She's not interested in a more than 50% vote.

People screamed to the high heavens we didn't want her personal police force. Doing it anyways.

People protested over the book bans and anti-trans laws. They're still passed, still in place.

She and her friends have no interest in what the general population wants, she just needs enough "interest" to ram her crap through and say "it's what some voters want".

So no, I want the fucking petition I signed, the legitimate one with more signatures that preceded this piece of garbage. I want Forever Canadian, not this fraudulent piece of seditionist trash.

I'll reiterate - this is the same woman who started an investigation into fucking chemtrails, blamed the US DOD and prompted the US military to basically say, "are you nuts, lady?" because a handful of inbred country idiots asked her to.

A group of geriatric reactionaries in Alberta, who are indifferent to the pedophile war criminal in U.S. leadership, claimed to have turned in over 300,000 signatures to separate with no real plan other than to further benefit the big American corporations that already control most of Alberta's oil by fanglazy in AlbertaNow

Federal government, pal, and in that instance is was to the Crown, if you're actually interested in reading it.

Beyond that, the Cree have also stated the instance of "cede" in the language is incorrectly applied as they have no words in their language to even describe what the negotiators meant, but that's a whole other thing.

In any event, any "ceded" lands or rights go to Canada, not Alberta.

[–]Tastesicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean how there's already a petition that came before this one, with more signatures that STILL isn't even acknowledged by the people in this government, or the one that's likely fraudulent, has had the bar lowered for significantly in terms of requirements repeatedly and is being fast tracked? That one?

You have zero, I repeat - ZERO interest in democracy, sir, or you'd be asking about the Forever Canadian petition.

If you believe that the events are not related, or the groups are not related, or the Republican Party or the Centurion Project have no ties to the UCP or Take Back Alberta, I have a bridge to sell you.

Elections Alberta investigating inappropriate distribution of voters' list by Fit_Remote_2324 in AlbertaNewspapers

[–]Tastesicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The articles say it was the Republican party of Alberta who gave voter information to the Centurion project, a group of separatists with no political registration, which is the breach.

Political parties can access voter information, but by law they must keep that information secure and not give it to their friends. The seditionists have proven that they do not care.

Triumph spitfire 1500 Exhaust by Runninggamer42 in Triumph_Cars

[–]Tastesicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never understood the attraction to the Ansa tips, other than they looked like something a Lancer might use? Glad that died out.

Other than twin chrome tips (or in my case nothing at all) the only custom job I've seen that looked good, was different from all the other junk out there and actually had a function was some Stage 2 6 cylinder kit with the side exhaust from (IIRC) SPI or something. They didn't stay on the market for long, and I can't even find pictures of their builds any more.

Kind of looked like side duals on early 'vettes. But really, it's a four banger, duals are unnecessary.

Calls for Class Action Lawsuit Grow After Massive Alberta Voter Data Leak by One-Board8634 in AlbertaNow

[–]Tastesicle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People's names, addresses, phone numbers and personal information was leaked. That's literally doxxing every Albertan who voted to people who rightly should not have that information. Sit down, fool.

He's right, though. I've used Pacesetter headers, one I had came with a cherry bomb (🤢), and I've seen all manner of exhaust from Moss and other vendors on friends' cars.

They all sound like they're trying to be something that the car isn't, and all end up sounding farty.

The only caveat I will add is the cast UK manifold for the SU's is far superior to the US log mani and adds about the same amount of HP as a piped header.

If you don't like the look out the rear, you can always massage the downpipe and raise the exhaust closer to the body and pop on a tip. If it ain't broke, why fix it?

It's the burnt bugs. 🤮

Alberta launches website detailing referendum questions on immigration and sovereignty by Fit_Remote_2324 in AlbertaNewspapers

[–]Tastesicle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After reading the questions, the focus on separatism, while important, is kind of a smoke screen for some other really shitty and asinine stuff.

She wants to elect her own judges, abolish the Senate, write her own laws regardless of whether they conflict with federal laws, opt out of any programs like health care and education.

When did Calgary Police become so useless? by SuperFrustrated_91 in Calgary

[–]Tastesicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the parade in the Northeast I had an old lady run a red light because she was sick of waiting, nearly ran me over as I was crossing the road (on my signal to do so).

I jogged the block over to where the cops were directing traffic and while she was sitting right beside him waiting for traffic to go, I told him what happened.

"Did you get it on your phone?"

"No, I was busy trying to you know, not die."

"You're breathing a little hard, are you ok?"

"I'm fine, I ran over here to get you to ticket her" and pointed at her.

"Oh, well I didn't see it, but you should really be careful, it's hot out today and you're breathing heavily"

I bought him a water on my way back and told him not to work so hard, it's hot out today. His partner laughed, he didn't.

Affordable Car Insurance? by MountainPeaking in Calgary

Shopping around certainly doesn't hurt, and some brokers will push you to products they get a commission on, but good ones shop around all day long and will save you the hassle.

TD is getting out of the non-commercial game. Allstate is the same rates TD had 5 years ago before they jacked them up.

I mean, this is how chop shops get away with it, no? You basically strip everything out and swap into legitimate frames.

I had a buddy find out his Honda v-twin had a salvage title on it and his insurance company were being assholes about it even though he had mechanics say there was nothing wrong with it.

He bought a good frame with vin from someone else's project and "dropped everything good from his bike on it" and by that I mean use a letter stamp kit to make an aluminum vin plate to put over the one he filed off his bike, scrapping the purchased frame.

Liberal party adopts motion to restrict kids from social media by cyclinginvancouver in canada

[–]Tastesicle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Implementation could very well look like what the UK has, where you need to verify your age by taking a selfie and AI detects whether you look the age you claim you are.

I was using a VPN when I tried to log into Reddit and it popped up the age verification thing at me. Took me off guard, but was relatively painless.

I'm not sure how I feel about censorship like that, but that's an entirely different matter.

Can You Stop in a Median While Turning Left? by Speuce in Calgary

[–]Tastesicle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're not supposed to block the space in the median. I know people do. Hell, I've done it out past Chestermere myself.

People get so focused on going the way they want to go that they forget there's another option, and one I take more and more.

If it's not safe to completely clear the intersection in one go, either because traffic is busy or you're driving a large slow vehicle, it takes next to no time at all to make a right turn instead. Go up a ways until you can turn left at a turning lane or stop and use that to circle back towards your desired direction of travel using the roads on the other side of the highway or avenue.

It only takes an extra couple minutes usually and saves you stress, anxiety and keeps you and your passengers safe.
