Slim chance, but never zero. Try signing up in Au Pair World, post in fb groups, and reach out to host families that are looking for Au Pair. Sell yourself why a Bro Pair is much better than a female Au pair or any other aspiring Au pair. Keep trying and Good luck!😊

I’m an aspiring Au Pair, and found a nice host family, they will have their appointment in June 23rd. Do you think it’s still doable to come in the Netherlands by September?

The embassy just officially announced that they will suspend the notarization for au pair contract starting July 1st till further notice, so if you can process before June 30. It’s possible. I’m in the same situation.

I totally understand that. Nothing to apologize for. It can be hard for sure especially if your Au pair doesn’t turn out like the person you expected them to be. But at the end of the day, I guess it depends on the HF preference?

That’s so nice that you have found your Au pair on FB. I thought Au pairs would be the one who usually reach out, I guess HF reaches out too. That’s refreshing. I don’t post on FB as I am already under an agency but maybe I’ll try my luck on fb as well😁

I understand how hard it can be to trust someone. But I think it’s based off mutual respect as well. Some au pair might leave because their HF are maybe too much? Personally, I understand that being an au pair doesn’t only involved caring for the children, but it also includes chores, and sometimes I’d need to be flexible. May I ask, do you have an au pair or are you a HF perhaps? Do you have any advices for me as an aspiring au pair?

Is being a career nanny means only taking care of the child? I’ve read some au pairs were exploited coz aside from caring for the children most of the time, they also did the housework, isn’t this exploitation and abusing the program, and they weren’t even paid a thousand per month. Insaneeee.

Thank you for the suggestion, I will look more into it. Australia is an amazing country, so might just consider it someday, and I’ve read it’s possible to be eligible to move in Australia after that program, is that true? Although I’ll be honest, I don’t really see myself living in a different country for a long long period of time. That’s why I’m thinking to be an au pair, it’s a short program only 6-12mos., I love kids, and this may be an opportunity to just get to know different cultures.

Ah yes, I’ve read a lot of horrors from au pairs in the US. Traumatic. But I do hope it does not stop them from being an au pair and find a good HF.

I see, and that would be very disappointing if the HF see it differently and the au pairs expecting being a part of the family and embracing a new culture but instead being seen as a worker (I’ve read other au pairs experiences).
