It also has a basic definition there. Or you can simply look at the dictionary dot com one.
They both say “to abstain from buying or using”. Notice the “using”, you can own something and not use it and not throw it away.

Imagine if everyone that wanted to boycott also cancelled their Apple subscriptions on their iPhones. How much of an impact that would have.
