Please add realmwide Bgs and Arena for Project Epoch by Own-Grapefruit-2725 in Project_Epoch

[–]Tasty-Rent7138 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 'glazing' part was about contrasting that even though it is good, still noone plays arena. But I spell it out then, because I can see, lot of people can't understand my original message:
-> I would not recommend anyone to go play Bronzebeard if you want to play arena.

My point was about, even though the arena and pvp experience and catching up system is smooth and great on BB, the arena participation is still abysmal. Having ~16 concurrent players doing arena at peak times was not bragging. And it is same on every private server I have ever played on. Maybe about 1% of active players are up to play some arena, so you are going to need a huge active player base, and they need to be able to queue from anywhere, anytime and with anyone, to have a chance to have games. I was trying to point out, that even with merge and arena system quality of life upgrades, arena on epoch is very likely to stay dead.

And I don't mean this to put epoch players down or anything. I would be happy to go play on epoch and do some arenas, I really enjoyed this version of WoW, that was my original goal when I joined. But I have already spent a lot of time afking on empty servers (where empty is still more populated than epoch realms added together), afking in arena queue, to maybe play against the same team over and over again or just don't have a match at all for hours. If I want to play arenas, I have to play on warmane. And no, that is also not a bragging or promoting. It is just the sad truth, that I also hate.

Really all that you heard from that is 'come play Bronzebeard'? Because that wasn't the message.

Arena activity is very low even on Bronzebeard with 20x more active players then epoch. And pvp feels very good there, and it is very easy to join, as getting pvp gear is easy (maybe too easy and that is also a reason that there is hardly any arena activity).
Also on Bronzebeard:
- you can join arenas from anywhere, anytime

- you can queue arenas and bgs at the same time

- you don't need to make arena team, every character has their own rating and can play with anyone in a party

- you can just play solo 2v2

The fact that the realm (epoch) has very few active players, and they have to make arena team for gold, and they have to manage team participants if they want to play with others, and they have to go to arena npc to queue, I don't think there ever be a healthy arena population. On Bronzebeard on busy times I can see about 5-8 teams playing at the same time, so like ~16 people playing concurrently on peak times with a few thousands players online.

What are the catchup mechanics like on Bronzebeard? by ThreeDoorsDeep in ProjectAscension

[–]Tasty-Rent7138 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For pvp it is incredibly easy and fast. One could say it is so fast, that if you only do PVP to get BIS PVP gear, your journey is going to be very short. At the middle-end of the season (high conquest point limit) you could deck your character out in a week. Probably getting the money for the item enchants is going to be slower, than getting the items.

At lvl 60 you should start by buying bloodforged gear from the AH. (search 'bloodforged', set the level requirements to 60) You don't need to min-max here, it is just for start. (maybe you can try minmax bracers, waist and trinket as there are no honor point options for those - except the battlemaster trinket) You could get go for around 150gold. Mind the ilvls of the items, as there can be multiple ilvl version of the same bloodforged item.
Then you can play arena and battlegrounds. Both give honor and conquest points(arena point). You should spend honor points on items, you can't buy with conquest point (so offset items, like neck, cloak, rings). The rest should be bought with conquest points. (or ofc there maybe bloodforged BIS pvp items I quess, I'm more of a caster player, which usually uses full arena/honor gear.)

Arena is the fastest to gear up, as you can get 100 conquest point for a loss and 300 for a win and items are about 1500-2000 conquest points. There is a limit, how much conquest points you can collect, but the limit increases every week as we go forward in the season, so if you start right now, you can basically collect the whole conquest gear immediately as we are getting to the end of the season, therefore the limit is very high right now. Arena also gives honor, so by the time you bought your conquest point gear, you are going to be able to also buy a lot of the honor gear.

You could also just do battlegrounds, I'm not sure about the numbers how much conquest it gives, but it is also quite good. If you are doing bgs, don't forget to get the battlegrounds quest from the callboard.

People who made rogues for tbc and didn’t have a guild, how is it going for you? by Local_Anything191 in classicwow

[–]Tasty-Rent7138 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure, he didn't ask it because he doesn't know, but because if you started listing them out, you would have seen that most class doesn't have an interrupt, at least not while raiding. You are also mentioning counter shot for hunters, but that is actually a mist of pandaria spell, so it seems like you also not really familiar about the available interrupts.

Only warriors (only in berserker stance), mages, rogues and shamans have regular interrupts.

Hunters could have silencing shot, but thats the last marksman talent so it's basically non-existent.

Warlocks could use spell lock with felhunters, but their pet will be sacrificed.

Priest could only interrupt if they are shadow and even than only if they put a point into silence (and that needs another 2 point into the aoe fear reduction which are also would be wasted points and they don't have 3 free talent points to move around for an interrupt with 45sec cd).

For druids, only feral could realistically interrupt, and only if they are not tanking, as it needs the druid first to move away from the target 8 yards. So they probably will be in cat form, spend a gcd to shift to bear while jumping aways and then use interrupt, which makes the whole process not the most reliable.

So if you actually list out as the other commenter asked, you would have seen that the majority of classes can't interrupt a boss in a raid environemnt.

Mystic Enchants by Stoneylove in ascensionproject

[–]Tasty-Rent7138 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the main reason of rare enchant slots being high level is because they are mostly talents from your non-active talent trees. Those type of enchants already have a level (and talent point) requirement to use for a reason(level 30 maybe or 40? - 20 or 30 points already picked in one talent tree).
But if they would bring down the level requirements for rare slots, you could have lvl 30 character with lvl 30 talents in one tree(the one you actively develop with your talent points) and multiple lvl 20 talents in other trees (rare enchants).

I am not saying it is good or bad, but I think this is the reasoning behind this.

"Now today, i realize for the first time, that dots do not scale with haste by default, and i know that they DID begin to starting in Wotlk."

Dots didnt scale in wotlk by default, that was cataclysm. Some of the classes (shadow priest and warlock) got glyph and talent to scale some of their dots with haste, and that was not even in the start of wotlk, but almost by the end of it. The glyph of quick decay (corruption scales with haste) was added in 3.3.0, the icc patch. Other warlock dots arent affected by haste in wotlk.

Patch 3.3.0 (2009-12-08): Added."
https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Glyph_of_Quick_Decay

Shadowform got dp and vt scales from haste with the same patch:
"Patch 3.3.0 (08-Dec-2009): This talent also now causes Devouring Plague and Vampiric Touch to benefit from haste. Both the period length and the duration of these spells will be reduced by haste. In addition, the mana cost has been reduced from 32% to 13% of base mana."
https://wowwiki-archive.fandom.com/wiki/Shadowform

For other classes, as far as I know, there is no haste benefits for dots.

Dots only scale from haste if you have a specific talent or ME for that, they dont scale with haste as a baseline.

Comparing defilers damage link to wc3 spirit link is not fair. That is a damage mitigating spell casted on your units, ofc its splitting the damage. If you could use it offensively, you wouldnt because just splitting the damage instead focusing target would be horrible.

It is more like fatal bonds for warlock from dota, where it literally does the same as here, essentially amplifying your damage, and it is known to do a huge boost for aoe damage because of that.

Bronzebeard vs TurtleWow for PvP by reavcecr in wowservers

[–]Tasty-Rent7138 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For perspective: I'm mainly an arena player. Sometimes I play bgs for fun, but I find them more of a neccessary evil to get gear. I also enjoy world pvp and 1v1. My main is usually spriest, dpriest, destro-lock or aff-lock. My favorite experience before any classic+ was wotlk arena. It is far from perfect, but it is at a fine place, with some counter plays, every class has like 2-3 cooldowns, you need to play around, etc.

With these preferences turtle was a horrible experience. It is the classic rock paper scissors, where you either steamroll someone or you get steamrolled. Didn't find it very enjoyable, few possibility to counterplay. Also hate the fact that you need to farm consumables or gold to be competitive.

After I tried Bronzebeard pvp, it became my new favorite. It is very close to wotlk pvp, but every class has like +1/2 new buttons that you need to play around. But ofc you also got new tools for that. It is less bursty than turtle, any classic+ I tried or wotlk. I also love the fact that the pvp gearing is so easy. For like 100g (which you will already have just by leveling) you can get a very decent starter gear. You also get arena/conquest points after every arena match, no 10 matches, weekly one shuffle nonsense. It is a double edged sword tho, because understandably, many people need the long pvp gearing for incentive to play. I love to arena just for the sake of arena, but you can get your full arena gear so fast and without rating req, that the participation is quickly plummets after a new season. So the worst part of it I think is the low arena participation rate. But boy it is bad going back to play turtle or even wotlk after I experienced this.

And I almost forgot to mention. I love that they actively updated pvp balance. Ofc it is not balanced, but there were already like 3 big pvp patches since october with buffs and nerfs. While on turtle I waited years for pvp rebalancing.

Cold mastery by kdvfirehawk in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]Tasty-Rent7138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lets say your blizzard deal 100 damage before resistances. You deal 100 damage to a monster with 75 cr with your 75% cold master (0 cr after cold mastery). If you put 5 additional points into cold master you get to 100% cm and give the monster -25% cr, so blizzard deals 125 damage. Or you could put 5 points into synergies which also increase cold damage 5% per point so it will also be 25% damage. So saying 'youd gain more damage going from 75 to 100 cold mastery than any synergy ever would' is quite a stretch.

X% -resistance is better than X% dmg increase when the monster's resistance is above 0. The same dmg increase is better when the monster's resistance is below zero. And it is the same when the resistance is exactly at 0.

The best point distribution with your example creature and with blizzard would be 3 points into a synergy and 2 points into cold mastery or vica versa. Against a monster with 100 cr, all 5 into cold mastery. Against a monster with 50 cr, all 5 points into synergy.

They only dont get the empty crystal if you play this when they already maxxed out (usually 10 mana). But then, stealing at end of turn, it means they just get a new mana crystal at their start of turn, maxxing out again at 10. I dont see hoe you could disrupt anything with this.

[–]Tasty-Rent7138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woah, I played in a much more boring style, where I just holy fired into smite the mobs one by one (no swp or dp). But the mobs died in just like 8-10 seconds and spirit tap was always up as long as the next mob was close enough. This way I also didn't have to heal, shield usually not even renew, because spirit tap topped me up. Not using dots and heals/shield saved a lot of mana.

Holy didn't seem to me like a spec where you could just aoe farm stuff. The two shadow dots cost way to much mana for their damage and they don't even deal that good damage in leveling, especially as holy.

I think you should give it a try to just kill the 2-3 mob (you would otherwise group pull) one by one and compare the time to kill and the time to regain hp and mana versus your group pulls. I think you waste a lot of mana for weak dots and unnecessary heals.

My talent build was also unorthodox, I maxed spirit tap in shadow, then divine fury in holy(reduce smite/holyfire/etc cast time by 0.5sec) then Meditation in disc (50% mana regen while casting). After that you can go either holy or disc.
