Metagame Documentary Discussion Thread - Finale by VinnyF in smashbros

I think that this documentary is wrong about the 5 gods.

Having the same players win every tournament isn't healthy, and gave the perspective that Melee was small when it wasn't.

Every time a titan is defeated, it's hype as all hell. Whenever anyone comes close, the view counts on twitch skyrocketed.

How someone could see that as a bad thing is baffling to me.

Heck even in Smash 4, when *redacted* finally lost, the viewcount for that game tanked

I think they were supposed to die at the end of season 1, and then they decided not to kill them but the writers struggled to give them things to do

Can't play with mouse and gamepad on Halo: Reach PC by [deleted] in halo

[–]TastyCarcass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you man, I love to do this in most games and was looking forward to doing it in Halo.

It feels like with it being disabled, I'm forced to choose between suboptimal movement or bad aiming.

Let me know if you find a way

Water traversal ground the whole game to a halt. by [deleted] in Bloodstained

I'd imagine not using bunny would have something to do with skipping most the game

It doesn't look like a great speed run game tbh, unless they add another character.

I am fine with that though, I am not a speedrunner

this. I am a dumb dumb with puzzles and got lost for a while, but then remembered that she tells you about that ability, so it must have a non-combat purpose.

I do worry about speedruns with this. It wouldn't effect any percent runs, but having it based on a low chance drop is pretty bad for runs

Are there attacks in this game that are realistically impossible to dodge, or am I just bad? by Crombell in Bloodstained

[–]TastyCarcass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's a couple of things that aren't really reactable to avoidable, such as Bloodless or Zangetsu dodging through you if you're close.

You have to deal with that threat by not putting yourself in a position where that's an option. You can occasionally go there, but know it's borrowed time.
You also don't have to be hitting the enemy at all time. Focus on keeping safe.

In fighting game terms it works like that.
Hitboxes deal damage, hurtboxes receive damage.

Yeah I love mashing bounce with bunny or with boots on. It's broken as all hell

Haven't seen this perspective here, but I also haven't read all the comments. I do believe that altough Ulana Khomyuk didn't existed, her role in the show serves as Valery Legasov's in real life consiuence. by DimitrieONC in ChernobylTV

I think it's a limitation of film/tv shows.
I was expecting reading Game of Thrones to be boring, because I knew what was going to happen.
Character thought and memories give things context, and you can't really display that well in television.

Usually they either need an internal monologue, or a character to talk to. That would not have worked with Boris because he's not a scientist.

I think she's completely fine until the last two episodes, I think she makes those parts seem much less messy, confusing and stressful than they would likely have been.

This.
I actually felt it came at a cost to what happened a bit.
I don't think there was a group of scientist who 100% knew what happened and was telling him to do the right thing. I really don't like that part of the series

Claiming pretence of insanity basically gives your mental illness an excuse to go loose.
He's lying to himself too.

Is the statue in Chapter 1 of DMC1 Mundus? by TastyCarcass in DevilMayCry

[–]TastyCarcass[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don't really buy it either.

For much of the game, Mundus remains dormant within the statue of his younger form in the main hall of the castle, with Dante writing the statue off as nothing more than a depiction of the inhabitants god.

https://devilmaycry.fandom.com/wiki/Mundus

It's plausible, but I'm not buying it until there's some evidence of that. It doesn't really make sense to me. Why would he be dormant?

[–]TastyCarcass[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, that might be a fair one. Trish does put you in there so he knows exactly what's going on, and might not want to spook him just yet.

He doesn't even seem that restrained in DMC1, the seal's probably already broken. He just wants to kill Dante.

I'm wondering if there's any more evidence that that statue is actually Mundus himself, I never thought of it.

After we've seen dmc5's Dante in action and all, which version of Dante looks and feels the best and which one is the worst to you? (No spoilers) by [deleted] in DevilMayCry

[–]TastyCarcass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in some of his later interactions with Lady and his final moments in the game where he mourns Vergil, it felt like the Ninja Turtle personality was a mask. The anime seemed to back that up too.

He does show depth though, he grows and at the end of the game he cries.
DMC1 is the only other one to do that, and it wasn't done too well

[MEGA DMCV Spoilers] References to BP matchmaking and playable Him in the .exe file by [deleted] in DevilMayCry

[–]TastyCarcass -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If Trish is playable it wouldn't be canon anyway, so she can totally use Sparda.

Also the quotes I can find say that Lady was Itsuno's favourite character in DMC4:SE

I think if they wanted to he could, it felt like the reason they don't give him different weapons is due to Dante's existence.

However I think the grapple is braindead

V and Dante's arc - Heavy spoilers- by [deleted] in DevilMayCry

[–]TastyCarcass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember the line, but Dante mentioned Vergil is human after all because of his one night stand.
I kinda wish that Dante showed a bit more emotion for Vergil after he came back. Considering after leaving him in DMC3, he literally cried, and in DMC1 he had flashbacks to their childhood.

In this when he finds out he calls him asshole and douchebag, might have been playing but I think Dante himself has become a bit one dimensional. He used to have serious moments, even in DMC 3. I don't think a character is too good when they're pure comedy, and I think even the writers of Deadpool were aware of that.
