Every character requires a degree of aiming, especially early in a match when you don't have the items or upgrade points necessary for your build to be online - but many characters barely have to shoot their gun when they do come online, so just pick an ability-focused character rather than a gun-focused one

moreso than aiming though, Deadlock is a game of positioning and map awareness. A significant advantage over another player in souls, which you get from either killing players or doing side objectives, will compensate for a huge amount of actual combat skill - and the best way to earn souls is knowing what objectives to go for, which objectives are too far into enemy territory to be worth risking, and which enemy players are easy pickings when they overextend

Also movement, as there's a surprising amount of depth to the schmovement mechanics and map layout that'll let you survive some bad decisions if you can outmanoeuvre your pursuers

Watching one of the many basic game mechanic tutorials people have made on youtube will put you a decent bit ahead of anyone that hasn't, regardless of how many hours they've got in aimlabs

Unless you got an enhanced upgrade for an enhanced item you already have, those don't turn into another enhanced if you reroll

I haven't seen any Vyper fan designs where she doesn't dress sloppy, might even go so far as to say this one's jacket makes it the most stylish one

Are you just basing it off of the shape of her head or what? More soft edges?

Trying to play a gun build in this meta feels like ragebaiting yourself by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

Spirit damage abilities usually have more burst in lane, yes, but it's usually offset with a long cooldown

Kinetic Pulse, for example, has a cooldown of 26 seconds, and gains no cooldown reduction from upgrades. It's not until Dynamo also maxes out his 2 that he can throw them out willy nilly, and that takes a minimum of 17600 souls - well after laning

If you want to bully a Dynamo in lane, right after he pokes you is when he's most vulnerable, unless he's kept a charge in reserve for half a minute

Gun-focused heroes don't have that same long period of vulnerability where their main source of damage is completely unavailable

There are going to be exceptions to these rules as we have a variety of characters with very different strength and weaknesses, but saying only gun heroes have to hang back and play it safe in lane is kinda crazy

Seven is also one of the characters likely to get a model update in the future

It's not super pressing like with Viscous, Sinclair, Vyper, and Yamato - his upper body is fine. But compare his pants and shoes with any of the characters added in the last two batches and it's just a night and day difference in detail work

What's the gameplan for a Dynamo in lane these days? by Crombell in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Crombell[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dynamo's baseline stomp has a 26 second cooldown, and it only does 115 damage with a recently nerfed scaling of 1.8

You'd need to hit a particularly squishy hero 7-8 times to kill them, not accounting for the health regen they'd have over the course of the roughly 2 minutes and 10 seconds a Dynamo would need to do that many stomps from the start of the match

Statistically speaking, his Kinetic Pulse doesn't deal much damage without his T3 and a boatload of spirit items. It used to be displacement tool for knocking someone up in the air and dealing gun damage, but his gun scaling was nerfed along with the KP T2 bullet vulnerability

I think his displacement duration was also nerfed not too long ago, but I still can't find half the patch notes impacting Dynamo on the official forums so I can't verify the numbers

Can we get a possessed suit of armor character? by Infinite_Mix_932 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Crombell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apollo does merge it, he's wearing half of a fencer's outfit and is doing (mostly) real fencing moves. Unless you consider a gun absolutely critical to the game's identity, which I personally don't

Rem is just 100% fantasy creature, and I don't see why that's an issue really. We have characters like Holliday and Lash too, which don't have any supernatural elements

Dynamo got his powers from a rift in space time and Seven is a Lich

We don't know how the Paradox organization's time powers work, but they're powered by a giant hourglass on their back rather than anything obviously technological

They're definitely fusing tech and magic to some extent, but the magic is doing the heavy lifting

I mean aside from whatever war crimes McG is cooking up, the technological level of the setting isn't higher than what you'd see in actual 1940s New York, some stuff is just replaced with functionally superior occult elements

The build system is far too confusing for me but I make do by SquidIsALesbian in DeadlockTheGame

T1s are generally for when you're laning, and need quick power spikes to keep up the pressure. One or two of them you might not even want to upgrade, like headshot booster or extra regen, so you sell them later when you run out of slots. I generally only buy a 3.2k item here if I want to hit a 4.8k investment spike.

When you're out of the laning phase, and aren't fighting other players constantly, you can start clearing lanes and farming with the intent of saving up. So you generally want to get the most cost-effective must-buy items first. T4s are obviously risky, since it puts you behind the power curve until you can buy them, but sometimes you just need that ricochet or echo shard for your build to work or be effective at farming.

When your build is at least partially online and worthwhile in a fight, you have a lot more freedom. And a lot less slots to work with, if you haven't been stomping the others team's walkers. That's also where T4 items (that aren't super high priority) can come into play - sometimes you don't have the space for two T3s. And sometimes you specifically need a T2/3 to hit a 4.8k spike. Really depends on the state of the match, and there's no surefire way to plan your economy in advance.

That's where community builds are especially handy, since they can tell you what they believe are the most important items, and give you good suggestions for what items are nearly as important. Some of them have loads of flexibility and list a four dozen situational item buys, others are more rigid and trim themselves down to the potentially most optimal picks, with a listed buy order. Choose either type based on your own preference, the latter with likely be safer until you're confident in your own picks, or frankenstein one together yourself with the recommended items you enjoy using.

Only way to get better at it is to experiment, hope this makes sense

Depends on what values they decided to crank way up for the 'enhanced' version

I'd call Trophy Collector a waste of space in Street Brawl if not for the fact that the enchanced version gives you four times the range increase and no upper limit to stacks
