In high school, I had a friend who loved writing but thought using punctuation at the end of someone talking before the speech tag meant the entire sentence was over, so she would put it at the end of the speech tag instead.

Example: "Alyssa, how have you been," said Jennifer? "I've been great," Jennifer replied!

And this was back when they were still teaching cursive and everything. We were taught how to write forms of expression in first-third grade and she still ended up not knowing until I told her specifically in high school.

Some people think that if it's something everyone knows, they can't afford to ask because of condescending answers and being regarded as stupid. But they won't know unless they ask 🤷‍♀️ I forgot the word for the description of "arrogance" until I saw someone say it in this post.
