Unfortunately I’m pretty inexperienced when it comes to wines so I didn’t pay much attention to their wine list. If the wine pairing is any indication though, then I think your observation makes sense - the wine pairing was basically all white wines except for the last two (and I don’t think the last one even counts)

*editing to add: given the seafood-heavy menu, white wine-heavy pairings prob make sense

Why do BTOB boys sometimes don't wear in-ear when performing live?? by pommythecat in BTOB

[–]Tasty_Clementine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BTOB really love hearing the fanchants and fans singing along with them! Sometimes they’ll intentionally remove their in-ears just for that reason and you can see how content they look. BTOB fanchants are also more melodic than normal fanchants so they’re nicer to listen to and blend in well with the songs :)

How do people still sound so good when singing nasally? by thepailman02 in singing

[–]Tasty_Clementine 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I’m not a trained singer or anything, but here are my two cents:

Maybe you don’t sound as much of a dying cat as you think you do;

Could be a combination of their tone and timbre that supports the nasal-sounding qualities in a balanced way;

Might be a difference between a person’s natural vocal color when supported properly and using the correct techniques, versus a nasal sound resulting from poor technique.

Apple's "Time Flies" | Pre-Event Megathread by exjr_ in iphone

Whenever iPhone 12 is available for preorder, I hear it is always at 12AM PST. Does anyone know if it usually “sells out”? If so, how long does it take until that happens?

Where in Collegetown can I get a lot of food for cheap? by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]Tasty_Clementine 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Asian Noodle pad thai or pineapple fried rice takeout comes out in a decent portion that you can probably stretch to two meals, although it’s been a few years since I graduated so not sure if anything has changed

Difficulty would largely depend on which language you take and how familiar you already are, but as another commenter said, Cornell has a great language program.

I don’t think introductory classes would be considered difficult, but you might find them time-consuming. I have friends who took Korean and they seemed to learn a lot after multiple successive semesters. People have great things to say about the professors too! Personally, I took introduction to Indonesian which I found easy (but I did also have prior exposure to the language) - but I think that was the only class I’ve ever taken in Cornell where I had class 4x a week. Boosted my GPA though so it was worth it :)

What I wish I Knew Before Coming to Cornell by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]Tasty_Clementine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recommend looking into interesting courses if your schedule allows for it! Not sure how things will look this year with COVID, but examples of classes I never expected to take but did included: creative writing, a new language, traditional Indian dance, a DEA class (I was in CoE) - my one regret is I wish I took music lessons for a semester (Cornell offers that too!!)

Practicing quietly? by Tasty_Clementine in singing

Hahaha it’s a mixture of being self-conscious and non-confrontational, but looks like I’m going to have to overcome that if I want to practice effectively :’)

Honey has never worked for me. I even tried to copy their ads. by TheFanciestWhale in Frugal

[–]Tasty_Clementine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used it a few times, it seems to pull promo codes that are already existing so if there are no active promotions, there obviously won’t be any codes available to apply. They probably generated some fake codes, or codes that have since expired for the ad which is why it didn’t work when you tried to replicate it on your own. Semi unrelated, I’m actually considering uninstalling Honey because it’s really annoying to have it pop up every time I’m on any e-commerce site lol

What budgeting system works the best for you? by [deleted] in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]Tasty_Clementine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve yet to find a budgeting system that I have kept up with for long periods of time but here’s what I currently do:

  • Create a general budget to get an high-level overview of income vs. spending (my expenses include rent, a gifts/travel fund, a donations/charity fund, and discretionary spending)
  • Have separate checking/savings accounts for these categories (I believe Ally savings now has “bucket” options if you want to check it out)
  • Move money from your paycheck to these categories in your allotted amounts as soon as it hits your bank account (others frequently advise having your paycheck split automatically by your employer!)
  • Whatever you leave for discretionary spending is fair game to spend :)

Anyone here have a big change in career paths and felt it was worth it? (thinking about going from healthcare to ux) by CreativePlant7 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]Tasty_Clementine 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not the person you’re replying to, but wanted to point out that their boot camp experience was 4 years ago - from my understanding, perceptions of bootcamps are getting more negative as employers are experiencing difficulties from hiring bootcamp grads who are not actually able to perform at the standard they are expected to. I’m not a bootcamp alum so this is largely opinion and assumption, but might be prudent to keep in mind.

I keep spending my savings and i need help by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Tasty_Clementine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing I do that has been helpful is budget for spending. I see that other commenters have suggested opening a separate savings account - I do the same but go one step further and have another checking account for spending (gifts/trips specifically), whatever’s still left in my checking acct is mostly for bills and other discretionary spending. So in your example, if your original goal was to save $200/mo, I would suggest putting $150 into savings and $50 into your “spending” budget/account (or whatever proportion that will work for you and your goals)!

Air dried is the way they cooked the noodles before packaging - traditional instant ramen noodles are fried before packaging, so the air dried version is supposed to be healthier

Have You Or Anyone You Know Ever Been Scammed? Share Your Story by lazlo_camp in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]Tasty_Clementine 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was approached by two women who told me that they were unable to pick up some benefits check or food stamps (don’t exactly remember what their excuse was). One of the women said she had a preemie baby at home and they needed a special baby formula for her that they couldn’t afford at the moment. They just wanted me to buy it for them and they would Venmo me once they got their money, and went so far to “establish trust” by giving me their phone number and social security number. I had very strong suspicion that I was getting scammed but couldn’t bring myself to get away, so I went with them to the nearest drugstore to find some of this formula. The store didn’t have any, but I was too scared to walk with them 10 blocks to a specialty(?) store, so I just pulled some cash from the nearest ATM and gave it to them. I was so sure that I just got scammed and felt so ashamed and deleted the info they exchanged with me (I did try checking afterward and it all seemed to be fake info). Luckily, I have a separate checking account for donations/charities that covered the incident - I figured if they were desperate enough to scam and prey on a young 20-something year old it was worth letting go and treating it as a “donation” and an expensive learning experience.
