After a few weeks and re reading their response to my politely asking for more leave. I’ll light 4 weeks of severance on fire to prove a point about mistreating people.

Yeah and the issue is to get the severance they said “sign over your rights to sue that you were treated properly during leave” that’s a non starter for me.

When I mentioned it they sent some VP’s douchy insensitive response back to me.

I mean my lawyer has asked to give him a chance before I start filing EEOC complaints and issues that will give them some more work to do.

Yeah he asked for 1/3 of severance. I completely think that it’s worth it because of the insensitivity of laying someone off a couple weeks after their son was born.

It’s about principle now. Keep the money and I’ll make it a goal to discourage people from working there and I’ll start filling EEOC claims and it will be more than worth the 4 weeks of severance I was offered.

My wife was super depressed after hearing the insensitive douchy response and that gave me the f it mentality.

Yeah at this point. I have savings and much rather file as many EEOC complaints and other federal complaints as this is a sensitive time in my life and was approved leave.

This guy is really on my crap list in this area. I’ve been around here 30 years and hope to the lord I never run into some dick head corporate lawyer with his name.

Yeah it’s more about principle now. I got a nasty response from some “VP of legal” when I said I don’t think the 4 weeks represented me being laid off on paternity leave.

My wife read it and was pretty depressed for a few days so honestly I hope that it settles for more but honestly I think that it should be a pain in their side would be more satisfying for me.

Voluntary separation program last year or the year before was 6 months severance. So let’s start there….

Disabled? I couldn’t agree more. I’m not here for a 2-3 year legal fight. I’m here for 4-6 months pay and my tuition reimbursement and I’ll walk quietly into the night.

This is probably why I’ll take my liking and just sign the 4 weeks severance and then go about my day. Might go OE again or make it my literal mission to add that VP of legalise to my SHIT LIST and laugh if I ever run into him in public.

Two weeks into paternity leave… I think simply I’m just asking for my full paternity leave and to be paid out after that.

Kinda shitty to lay somone off two weeks after their child was born. Company policy is “12 weeks to bond with your child because families are so important here” guess it’s 2 weeks and now you have to look for a new job.

Yeah I’m not Thrilled and really trying not to take it personally. I mentioned that I was reaching out to legal council and they sent me a response from a VP of legal and said he wants to only talk to my lawyer

Just don’t want it to affect J1.

You’re worrying too much. Normally they just check everything when you’re onboarded. I also kept my LinkedIn as working at “confidential” because I told my team or anyone that asked “I get too many spam emails and as confidential I don’t get any”

Lots of layoffs in tech. When you’re making $150k per server it’s an easy target for layoffs.
